Street Fighter Reveals First Look at Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes

The first official look at Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie has been revealed. The teaser (see below) debuted Thursday night during The Game Awards, offering fans their first glimpse of several cast members fully suited up as iconic characters from the legendary video game franchise.

The footage confirmed Cody Rhodes portraying Guile and Roman Reigns taking on the role of Akuma. Shortly after the teaser aired, Reigns acknowledged the reveal on X, formerly Twitter, by sharing an image of his character alongside the message, “Embrace the darkness. Akuma is coming.” Both Reigns and Rhodes also appeared in a lighthearted Instagram Story posted by Jason Momoa, who plays Blanka in the film. In the video, Momoa greets the two WWE stars and jokes, “The two Big Joes just met.” He then shows them his Blanka character design, prompting excited reactions from both wrestlers. Reigns later shared a separate photo with Momoa on his own Instagram account.

While Reigns’ Akuma reveal has largely been met with enthusiasm, fan reaction to Cody Rhodes’ debut as Guile has been far more divided. Rhodes’ look stays true to the source material, complete with Guile’s signature exaggerated blond flat-top hairstyle. However, that faithfulness has sparked mixed opinions across social media.

Fans quickly took to X to share their thoughts, with reactions ranging from praise to criticism. Some applauded the movie for leaning into the classic game aesthetic, saying the design looked authentic and intentionally over the top. Others were less impressed, with one fan commenting that Rhodes looked like he was “playing Guile on an SNL skit,” while another bluntly stated, “he looks really stupid.” Casual viewers unfamiliar with the Street Fighter franchise also weighed in, poking fun at the hairstyle with jokes such as, “Why his head look like my living room table,” and “What was the need of this exact cartoonish hairstyle?”

Despite the divided response, many fans defended the look, pointing out that Street Fighter characters have always featured exaggerated designs and that the film appears committed to honoring the games rather than toning them down.

Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes join an extensive cast that includes Jason Momoa as Blanka, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Eric André as Don Sauvage, and 50 Cent as Balrog. The film also stars Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, Kyle Mooney as Marvin, and Mel Jarnson as Cammy. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
