Sol Ruca Stuns Bayley at Saturday Night’s Main Event – Following the controversial opening bout between Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi, WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event delivered its first true surprise of the night in the second match on the card. In a result that caught many off guard, former NXT double champion Sol Ruca scored a significant victory over main roster veteran Bayley, earning the win via roll-up in a fast-paced and competitive singles match.
Both competitors wasted no time once the bell rang. Bayley immediately took control by applying a side headlock and transitioning into a waist-lock, attempting to slow the match down and keep the explosive Ruca grounded. Ruca fought out, but Bayley stayed on her, pulling her into a headlock takeover and then wrenching the arm. Ruca responded with athletic counters, cartwheeling free and using her agility to shift momentum. After a brief rope exchange, Ruca showcased her balance by walking forward on her hands before snapping off a head-scissor takeover.
Bayley quickly regrouped and went back to the arm, but Ruca countered with an X-Factor that forced Bayley to roll to the outside. As the action spilled out of the ring, Bayley attempted to regain control by pulling Ruca toward the apron, only for Ruca to evade a strike by walking on her hands once again. Ruca attempted a moonsault to the floor, but Bayley moved at the last second, leading to a forearm shot that halted Ruca’s momentum.
Back inside the ring, Ruca connected with a cartwheel off the top rope into a DDT, earning a close near fall. Bayley answered with a Bayley-to-Belly suplex for a near fall of her own and followed up by trapping Ruca in the tree of woe before dropping an elbow for another two-count. Bayley looked to end things with the Rose Plant, but Ruca escaped and fired back with a Shining Wizard that nearly sealed the upset.
Bayley once again went for the Rose Plant and appeared to have the match won, but Ruca managed to get her foot on the bottom rope just in time. Frustration set in for Bayley, who unloaded with punches and a back suplex before heading to the top rope. Ruca countered the diving elbow by getting her knees up and then connected with a Sol Snatcher, though the impact nearly sent Bayley out of the ring.
In the closing moments, both women traded rapid pin attempts until Ruca finally caught Bayley in a tight roll-up to score the decisive three-count.
The victory marked a major moment for Ruca, who capitalized on the opportunity to defeat one of WWE’s most accomplished women on a high-profile stage. The crowd reaction reflected the significance of the upset, as Ruca firmly established herself as a rising threat beyond NXT.
