12/13 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Preview
For the final time in his legendary career, John Cena will step inside a WWE ring tonight at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The farewell takes place in Washington, DC, where Cena will headline against former WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER. GUNTHER earned this opportunity by winning The Last Time Is Now Tournament, setting the stage for a clash that symbolizes the passing of the torch as Cena bids farewell to the WWE Universe.
The card will also spotlight several high-profile encounters between main roster stars and NXT standouts. In one of the night’s marquee bouts, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will meet newly crowned NXT Champion Oba Femi in a non-title Champion vs. Champion showdown. With Rhodes still recovering from the fallout of Survivor Series: WarGames and Femi fresh off his rise to the top of NXT, this battle promises to be a showcase of two dominant champions from different brands.
The women’s division will also be represented in cross-brand competition as former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley squares off against Sol Ruca, the former NXT Women’s North American Champion and Speed Champion. Both competitors are looking to prove themselves on one of WWE’s biggest stages, making this bout a potential show-stealer.
Rounding out the main show, WWE World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee will defend their titles against TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater and NXT star Je’Von Evans. With Styles and Lee continuing to build their reign, and Slater and Evans representing the next generation of challengers, the match is expected to deliver high-octane action and highlight the depth of WWE’s tag team division.
