Andrade Receives WWE Clearance To Compete In Puerto Rico – Andrade El Idolo has taken a significant step toward returning to in-ring competition following his WWE release earlier this year, despite continued legal issues tied to his non-compete clause. While disputes related to that clause are still ongoing, Andrade has confirmed that WWE has formally granted him permission to wrestle at a World Wrestling Council event in Puerto Rico tonight.
Speaking with Inside The Ropes, Andrade revealed that his legal team recently received written clearance from WWE, allowing him to compete for WWC on what he described as the promotion’s final show of the year. The development marks his first approved match since being sidelined by contractual restrictions.
“Yeah, I’m so happy to be in Puerto Rico,” Andrade El Idolo said. “I want to say thank you to my lawyer. My lawyer now has a letter from WWE, because we had a few problems because of the non-compete for 12 months.
So today, my lawyer told me, ‘Andrade, I have a letter, signed, that you can participate, tonight, in Puerto Rico, in the company WWC.’ So now the letter says I can come back to the ring, tonight, on this last show – last show of the year. I have the opportunity for the title, so I am so happy. After all these problems, I don’t know what to say. I want to be ready for tonight.”
Andrade also addressed the frustration of being unable to wrestle for several months, noting that while the situation has been difficult, the opportunity to compete again has lifted his spirits.
“It is difficult, but I am happy,” Andrade said. “I want to get back in the ring. It is my first opportunity. I have this opportunity for the title. I’ll take it. I deserve this opportunity. I have been at home for 3-4 months, and I can show the people who Andrade is, how my body has changed. I want to show my talent, everything.
But for three months, for legal problems, the non-compete problem, so I couldn’t do anything in the ring. I am just happy to be back. I am happy because I love Puerto Rico, I love the company. WWC is so important.”
Andrade also highlighted WWC’s historical significance, referencing legends who previously worked in Puerto Rico and expressing excitement about competing there on such a notable card. It remains unclear whether WWE’s approval extends beyond this single WWC appearance. WrestlingAttitude.Com will continue to follow the situation as more details become available.
