Report Reveals Scrapped WWE Plans for Austin Theory’s Involvement with The Vision – A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed WWE’s original creative direction for Austin Theory before World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins suffered his recent shoulder injury. The plans reportedly involved Theory joining The Vision, with the storyline set to unfold at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1.
According to the report, there had been “at least talk that the introduction of Austin Theory to The Vision would come on that show to lead to him joining the group.” At that same event, CM Punk was scheduled to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship after winning a number one contender’s match on RAW.
Theory’s addition to The Vision was intended to play a significant role in shaping the creative path toward November’s annual WarGames event. Dave Meltzer noted that the storyline would have led to Roman Reigns and CM Punk uniting to take on The Vision in the WarGames match. “Theory’s involvement would have in some form led to Reigns and Punk coming together on the same unit against The Vision in War Games, since Reigns was beaten at Crown Jewel by Reed, with help from Breakker,” the report stated.
However, it was also mentioned that Reigns’ post-match comments after Crown Jewel — expressing his desire to handle things on his own — may have complicated those creative plans.
With Rollins now expected to miss significant time due to injury, WWE has been forced to adjust its creative direction. The company must determine the fate of the now-vacant World Heavyweight Championship, as well as new plans for both Saturday Night’s Main Event and WarGames.
Currently, The Vision has moved on from Seth Rollins after turning on their former leader during Monday’s RAW. The group is now centered around Bron Breakker, who has emerged as a main event player. Meanwhile, Austin Theory remains off television, awaiting his return to WWE programming.
