Dustin Rhodes Shares Update After Double-Knee Replacement Surgery – Dustin Rhodes has given fans a fresh update on his recovery following double-knee replacement surgery, which he underwent on August 21. Posting on social media, the AEW veteran shared a photo of his knees without bandages, admitting just how badly damaged they had been before the operation. Despite the grueling road ahead, Rhodes says he is focused on a “slow and methodical” rehab process.
“Today marks 2 wks since surgery. Don’t really know how I was doing it these last 5 yrs. Knees were destroyed,” Rhodes wrote. “Dressing off finally. I look forward to a slow and methodical rehab. Slow and steady. Thank yall for all of your support and prayers. God has it under control.”
The surgery was explained on AEW television through a storyline injury suffered during a July 31 episode of AEW Collision, where Kyle Fletcher attacked Rhodes’s leg with a screwdriver during their Chicago Street Fight for the TNT Championship. While the angle provided a kayfabe reason for the procedure, Rhodes had been dealing with severe knee issues for years.
At 56, Rhodes acknowledges the lengthy recovery ahead but has made it clear that this is “NOT THE END” of his in-ring career. Before undergoing surgery, he was still competing at a high level, even holding both the ROH World Tag Team and Six-Man Tag Team Championships. Beyond his in-ring work, “The Natural” remains an important figure in AEW, serving as a coach, mentor, and ambassador for the company. His contract reportedly extends for another two years, and he has expressed his determination to see it through.
