Update on Jamie Hayter’s Injury and AEW Status – Former AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter has been out of action for several months due to an undisclosed injury, and her absence has lasted longer than both she and AEW had originally anticipated.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, AEW did not expect Hayter’s recovery time to keep her sidelined this long. The former champion herself had been hoping to return sooner, ideally making it back in time for AEW’s Forbidden Door event this weekend in the UK, her home country. Unfortunately, that has not been possible.
Hayter’s last match took place at AEW Double or Nothing, where she lost to Mercedes Moné in the finals of the Owen Hart Cup. Shortly afterward, she was written off television following an on-screen attack from Thekla during her AEW debut on Dynamite. Since then, Hayter has not been featured on AEW programming.
Subsequent reports confirmed that Hayter is still not medically cleared to compete. It was noted that if she were healthy, AEW would have already brought her back into active storylines. Company president Tony Khan has also spoken about her absence, explaining that her injury has forced AEW to adjust several creative plans and has had a ripple effect on overall booking.
Hayter remains one of AEW’s most popular stars, and fans continue to await her eventual return. At this time, there is still no timetable for when she will be cleared to re-enter the ring.
