Ronda Rousey Says Full-Time Wrestling Return Is Not Possible

Ronda Rousey has made it clear that her time in professional wrestling is effectively over. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, she explained that even a part-time schedule is no longer realistic given her current priorities at home. This comes despite an open invitation from AEW President Tony Khan for her to return to the company.

The topic first came up during her appearance on Up & Adams, where she stated she had no plans to step back into the ring. She later expanded on that stance and detailed the personal reasons behind her decision.

“I think, just, we’re trying to have another kid now and all this stuff. That lifestyle, being on the road and wrestling, it’s just not conducive at all to having multiple kids. We were able to make it work for a little while. It’s just not doable anymore.”

While ruling out a full-time return, Rousey did not completely shut the door on future appearances. She noted that limited involvement could still be possible under the right circumstances.

“I could be open to doing some things if it works out and it’s local. We’re looking to move to Hawaii, and it would be kinda cool to open a little school.”

Rousey last appeared in a wrestling setting at AEW Revolution in Los Angeles, where she was involved in a segment alongside Marina Shafir and Toni Storm. That appearance led to speculation about a potential in-ring return, but she clarified that it was never the plan due to her MMA commitments at the time.

“I didn’t get to do anything at all because I was in training camp and all these people were like, ‘Oh, is Ronda gonna do a match?’ I’m like, I’m in training camp. You guys are crazy. I’m not going to be doing any matches while in training camp. I love Toni Storm, I love Marina, and it was fun to be there for Marina’s first pay-per-view match as well. I didn’t want to take away from their moment but maybe put a little bit of a spotlight on it and a little bit of a nudge to my upcoming fight.”

Her recent MMA bout on May 16 against Gina Carano was described as a one-time return, and she has since confirmed she is once again retired from MMA. With both fighting and wrestling now behind her, Rousey appears focused on family life moving forward.

Rousey previously enjoyed a high-profile run in WWE, capturing the RAW Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 34 and holding multiple titles before her departure in 2023. Her exit followed ongoing frustrations with creative direction, making headlines across the industry.
