Cope and Cage Win AEW Tag Titles in Brutal I Quit Match at Double or Nothing 2026

Cope and Cage Win AEW Tag Titles – AEW delivered a violent opening to Double or Nothing 2026 as FTR defended the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an “I Quit New York Street Fight.”

The stakes were high from the start. FTR entered as champions after a recent title defense, while Copeland and Cage not only chased the titles but also fought to keep their partnership alive. A loss would have forced them to never team again.

The challengers received a strong reaction from the New York crowd as they made their entrance, while Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler walked in focused and ready for a fight. Once the bell rang, the match quickly turned into a chaotic brawl.

Weapons came into play early, with chairs, ladders, and even barbed wire used throughout the contest. Cage took control in the opening moments, targeting Harwood with aggressive offense, including driving him into barbed wire wrapped around the ropes. Despite the punishment, Harwood repeatedly refused to quit.

Copeland and Cage kept the pressure on, using belts and choking holds, but FTR fought back with equal intensity. Wheeler trapped Cage’s arm in a chair and stomped on it, while Harwood later capitalized on distractions to shift momentum.

The match escalated outside the ring, where Copeland was driven through a table after an assisted piledriver from FTR. Cage’s injured hand became a major target, with Wheeler smashing it against a cinderblock and Harwood crushing it further with a chair. Even then, Cage refused to submit.

As the fight continued, both teams exchanged brutal attacks. Copeland responded with a pair of spears, while FTR delivered a Shatter Machine to Cage. Interference from Stokely added another layer, as he attempted to tip the balance in favor of the champions.

The turning point came when Beth Copeland entered the scene. After taking out Stokely, chaos unfolded near a table that had been set on fire. In a miscue, Wheeler accidentally sent Stokely crashing through the flames.

Back in the ring, Harwood threatened Copeland with a Con-Chair-To and demanded he quit. Beth intervened, allowing Cage and Copeland to regain control. They applied a combined submission, but Harwood still refused to give up.

The match finally ended when Beth introduced Spike, handing it to Copeland. With the weapon added to the hold, Copeland cranked back as Cage maintained the pressure, forcing Harwood to finally say the words.

Copeland and Cage walked out as the new AEW World Tag Team Champions, surviving one of the most brutal matches of the night and keeping their team intact.
