Janel Grant’s Legal Team Responds to Brock Lesnar’s WWE Return

Janel Grant’s Legal Team Responds to Brock Lesnar’s WWE ReturnBrock Lesnar’s shocking return to WWE television at SummerSlam 2025 has reignited controversy surrounding his alleged involvement in the ongoing Janel Grant lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE.

Appearing for the first time in two years, Lesnar closed out Night Two of SummerSlam by attacking John Cena following Cena’s loss to Cody Rhodes in a Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The surprise return immediately sparked debate—not just about creative direction, but also about the legal cloud Lesnar has been under since early 2024.

Lesnar was referenced in Grant’s original lawsuit, filed in January 2024, though not named directly at the time. In her initial complaint, Grant claimed that Vince McMahon attempted to lure Lesnar into re-signing with WWE by proposing she engage in a sexual encounter with him. That claim was expanded upon in February 2025 when Grant filed an amended complaint that explicitly named Lesnar and detailed a 2021 incident in which McMahon allegedly offered her to Lesnar in exchange for his commitment to a new WWE deal.

While the complaint confirmed that Lesnar and Grant had communicated and that Lesnar expressed interest in meeting, the encounter never took place. A snowstorm was cited as the reason Lesnar’s travel plans were changed. Importantly, Grant also stated that Lesnar never committed a crime, and he is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit.

Despite this, Lesnar’s return has not gone unnoticed by Grant’s legal team. In a statement shared by Fansided DDT’s Samantha Schipman, a spokesperson for Grant issued a firm response following SummerSlam:

“For far too long, abuse was allowed to thrive under WWE’s leadership. Instead of righting this wrong, WWE has done nothing to ensure those responsible are held accountable. This attempt to sweep misconduct under the rug will backfire. We look forward to the full set of facts, including those about Mr. Lesnar, coming out in a court of law where they belong, but, in the meantime, we refer you back to Janel Grant’s updated complaint, which outlines, in detail, the abuse she endured by McMahon and others while employed at WWE.”

WWE has yet to issue a statement in response to the renewed criticism, but Lesnar’s return—combined with the fact that he was quietly removed from promotional materials throughout 2024—suggests that WWE waited until receiving legal clearance before bringing him back on television.

According to previous reporting, WWE’s legal team cleared Lesnar approximately four weeks before SummerSlam, possibly due to confidence that the case would either be moved to arbitration or reach a settlement that minimizes his legal exposure.

Nevertheless, with Lesnar now firmly back on WWE TV and expected to feud with John Cena in the coming months, his presence will likely remain a point of contention as the lawsuit proceeds through the courts.
