Will Ospreay Injury Worse Than Expected

Will Ospreay Injury Worse Than Expected – As previously reported, Will Ospreay was expected to take time off from AEW after his physically demanding performance at All In: Texas. A new update has emerged, offering more insight into the extent of his condition and how it might affect upcoming plans.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Ospreay has been “hurting for a while,” but his injuries worsened more than he initially anticipated. As a result, he is now officially sidelined and awaiting a full medical evaluation in the United States scheduled for next week. There is currently no clear timetable for his return to the ring.

This development raises serious questions about Ospreay’s status for AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view on August 24. He was reportedly planned as one of the major focal points for the event, but his ability to participate is now uncertain given his current health.

Ospreay’s absence comes just after he and Swerve Strickland defeated The Young Bucks in a high-stakes tag team match at All In: Texas. That match not only removed The Young Bucks from their on-screen EVP roles, but also elevated Strickland into position as a top contender for the AEW World Championship. With Ospreay off TV, Strickland is now expected to move forward as a solo competitor in AEW’s main event picture.

Ospreay, who has battled injuries throughout his career, signed full-time with AEW earlier this year and quickly became a featured star across Dynamite, Collision, and pay-per-view events. His current setback is seen as precautionary but necessary due to mounting physical wear.

AEW has yet to issue an official statement on Ospreay’s condition or any changes to the Forbidden Door lineup. Fans will be watching closely over the coming days to see if an announcement is made regarding his participation.
