Update on Nyla Rose’s AEW Status and Recent Absence from Television – Nyla Rose has been noticeably absent from AEW programming in recent months, and a new update sheds light on her current situation. According to Fightful Select’s Q&A with Sean Ross Sapp, there is currently “no word at all” on why Rose hasn’t been featured on television.
A fan asked Sapp if there was any update on Rose’s absence, noting that she isn’t injured. Sapp confirmed that Rose is healthy but added that she hasn’t been mentioned in any recent creative discussions. “No word at all. I haven’t heard of her brought up creatively, and she’s not hurt. I’m not sure she even knows why she hasn’t been used, which seems to be very common for people in AEW to just disappear for a year at a time. She’s worked some indies,” Sapp explained.
Rose has continued to make independent wrestling appearances, despite her lack of televised AEW matches. Her last AEW bout aired on the November 20, 2024, episode of Rampage, where she teamed with Harley Cameron in a losing effort against Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa. Since then, she has competed at various outside events, including Chris Jericho’s cruise, but has not returned to AEW TV.
Signed to AEW in 2019, Nyla Rose made history as the company’s first openly transgender wrestler. She captured the AEW Women’s World Championship in February 2020 by defeating Riho, becoming the first transgender woman to win a major wrestling championship in the United States.
Despite her groundbreaking status and Tony Khan’s public support, Rose has not been regularly featured on AEW television in recent years. Neither Rose nor AEW has offered an official explanation for her current absence. For now, her creative direction in AEW remains uncertain, though she continues to stay active across the wrestling circuit.
