Tony Khan Discusses Potential ROH Rebrand

Tony Khan Discusses Potential ROH Rebrand – Nearly a year after suggesting that Ring of Honor could be rebranded under the AEW umbrella, Tony Khan has provided new insight into the future of the promotion. In a recent interview with WFAA, Khan acknowledged that the idea of renaming the brand AEW: Ring of Honor is still under consideration, but emphasized that any decision must align with larger strategic goals.

“I still think there’s a great chance to develop ROH. We’ve really done a lot to build up Ring of Honor. They’re unique companies in terms of structure,” Khan explained. “I do think there’s still merit to rebranding, but there are reasons I’ve positioned ROH the way I have. I believe we still have opportunities to capitalize on.”

Khan, who purchased ROH in 2022, has continued to operate the brand as a separate entity from AEW, despite occasional crossover appearances. While speculation about a full integration persists, Khan made it clear that ROH’s current path remains deliberate.

He also credited AEW’s recent media rights success for creating new opportunities for both promotions. “AEW has made major media rights deals that have changed the game for the entire industry, including ROH,” Khan said. “Any deal or branding change has to make sense for both ROH and AEW. It’s something I’ve thought about, but right now I think we’ve done a strong job establishing ROH’s identity, especially with standout champions like Athena and Bandido.”

Khan was also asked whether AEW would consider hosting an event in Saudi Arabia. While he didn’t rule it out, he was cautious in his response. “Well, it depends on the situation. I think, you know, it’s all about the details. So it would have to be a deal that made sense for that territory, and especially for us here at AEW,” he said.

With ROH continuing to operate independently and standout champions like Athena leading the charge, Khan seems intent on developing the brand’s unique identity—at least for now.
