Scorpio Sky Reflects on AEW Return and Surprise Fan Reaction

Scorpio Sky Reflects on AEW Return and Surprise Fan Reaction – Scorpio Sky has broken his silence about his AEW comeback earlier this month, revealing that he wasn’t sure he’d ever return to the company. Speaking on the latest episode of his Creating Character podcast, Sky discussed his surprise return on the July 5th edition of AEW Collision and the overwhelmingly positive response he received from fans.

“I was surprised at how well it was received online,” Sky admitted. “Sometimes, the internet wrestling community can be very stiff. On [Twitter/X]… the AEW audience that is, they’re not always very happy to see me… it seems the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. That actually caught me off guard.”

Sky had been off AEW television for nearly ten months, with his last match occurring in September 2023. During the hiatus, he began to doubt whether he had a future with the company.

“To be completely honest with you, there was a time where I thought I was never going back to AEW. It just felt like things were heading in that direction,” he said. “That’s not what I wanted, and fortunately, it’s not what they wanted. We worked it out. I’m really happy to be back.”

Since returning with a win over Max Caster, AEW has started building up Sky’s new faction, “Sky Flight Team,” through a series of vignettes on Collision. The group includes longtime ally Christopher Daniels and the high-flying duo Top Flight. While they have yet to compete together as a unit, the faction is expected to make its in-ring debut soon, aiming to make waves in AEW’s growing tag team and trios divisions.
