NXT Europe Still in WWE’s Plans, But Skepticism Grows

NXT Europe Still in WWE’s Plans, But Skepticism Grows – A new report from Fightful Select offers an update on WWE’s long-teased NXT Europe brand, nearly two years after it was first announced. While WWE has continued to indicate that the brand remains in the pipeline, wrestlers and promoters across the European independent scene remain cautious about its actual launch timeline.

According to the report, wrestlers who recently participated in a WWE UK tryout were told that “NXT Europe is still coming”, though no further details — such as dates, structure, or contracts — were provided. That message mirrors the company line given since the shutdown of NXT UK in 2022, leading many to question how imminent the project really is.

One former NXT UK wrestler told Fightful, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” That sense of hesitation is reportedly shared by several others in the European wrestling scene, especially in the UK and France.

Still, there is some optimism — especially among active talent, who view a European WWE brand as a career-changing opportunity. Many performers emphasized the platform and visibility WWE could offer, along with the financial benefits of a full-time contract. However, a recurring concern was the pay scale; past NXT UK deals often required wrestlers to take second jobs, and many hope WWE will adjust its approach if NXT Europe is to be sustainable.

French-based talent were particularly wary about losing top names during what is currently a hot period for the French wrestling scene. Yet some independent promoters welcomed the potential shake-up, noting that the scene had bounced back before — following the launch of NXT UK and the COVID-19 shutdowns — and would likely do so again.

The report also points to AEW’s growing UK footprint, including their annual All In event at Wembley Stadium, as a potential factor in WWE’s renewed internal movement on the brand. However, many close to the situation remain doubtful that a full launch will take place before 2026, despite earlier reports from PWInsider suggesting WWE was targeting a late 2025 rollout.

As it stands, WWE continues to reassure talent that NXT Europe is part of future plans, but without firm dates or formal announcements, skepticism across the region remains.
