El Grande “Kaiser” Americano Defeats Dragon Lee – On the July 7 episode of WWE RAW, El Grande Americano picked up another victory, defeating Dragon Lee in singles competition. The masked luchador — clearly portrayed by Ludwig Kaiser — secured the win with a diving headbutt, maintaining an undefeated singles record on RAW.
This match marked Dragon Lee’s third loss to El Grande Americano, bringing his head-to-head record against the mysterious figure to 0-3. Despite the lack of any on-air acknowledgment, Americano’s presentation, in-ring mannerisms, and physical build left little doubt that Ludwig Kaiser is now under the mask.
As noted, Chad Gable had portrayed El Grande Americano since the character’s debut earlier this year. However, Gable was written off television during the June 23 episode of RAW following a storyline injury. One week later, on the July 1 edition, El Grande Americano reappeared — this time with Kaiser stepping into the role.
WWE has not addressed the change in character portrayal on television, and the storyline reasoning behind the switch has yet to be revealed. The decision to continue the Americano character with a new wrestler suggests the company still sees potential in keeping the persona active on television, even as Gable remains absent.
It remains to be seen whether El Grande Americano’s winning streak will lead to a more prominent role for the masked character or whether the change in identity will eventually be exposed on-screen.
