Booker T Blasts Critics Over Goldberg’s Final Match Against GUNTHER – WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has spoken out in strong support of Goldberg’s upcoming title match against GUNTHER, silencing critics who have questioned the decision to put the 58-year-old into a high-profile main event.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker addressed the backlash from both fans and some former wrestlers, many of whom feel Goldberg should not be in the title picture at this stage of his career. Booker didn’t mince words, making it clear that anyone in Goldberg’s position would have taken the opportunity.
“I want to reach out to all the guys of that era of Goldberg, okay, and the guys of that era that are complaining about Goldberg,” he began. “Why does Goldberg get the shot? Why is he in this match?… The reason why he’s doing it, because it’s the same thing your ass would have did if WWE called you to be in a final match with GUNTHER in a prime time spot. That’s why.”
Booker then followed up with a direct message to Goldberg’s detractors. “So anybody out there complaining can just shut the hell up. Seriously,” he stated. “Because I know if they would have called me, I would have did it. And I know just about anybody that’s in that position, that’s that’s able to actually walk to that ring, they would have did it too.”
He didn’t stop there. Booker also addressed any younger talent who may be bitter about Goldberg receiving a main event slot. “To the young guys who may have a problem with it, you better hope and wish and pray that you’re of the caliber of a Goldberg one day,” he said. “To where a company feels that you have that much to bring to the table still at that age, to bring you back to give to the fans one more time.”
The high-stakes match between GUNTHER and Goldberg is scheduled for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 in Atlanta, Georgia. The bout is being promoted as Goldberg’s final match, marking the end of a legendary — and polarizing — career.
