Another Match Added to WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event ** SPOILER ** – Another major bout has been confirmed for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12, stemming from the SmackDown tapings held on June 30 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The tapings for the July 4 episode of SmackDown began with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes delivering a passionate in-ring promo. He was quickly interrupted by Randy Orton, who acknowledged that he couldn’t go through with punting Rhodes in a recent moment. Orton stated that his hesitation proved Cody had earned his respect and encouraged him to finish the job by dethroning John Cena at SummerSlam.
Their exchange was interrupted by Drew McIntyre, who returned and mocked the display of mutual respect. However, his remarks backfired as Orton responded with a sudden RKO. Later in the show, McIntyre was seen backstage with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, where he secured a match against Orton for the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.
As previously reported, RAW also set up a high-profile clash for the July 12 show, with LA Knight scheduled to face Seth Rollins. The match was made official following a backstage confrontation between Knight and CM Punk during the June 30 RAW, which stemmed from recent altercations involving Rollins and both men.
With Orton vs. McIntyre and Rollins vs. Knight now confirmed, the July 12 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event is quickly shaping into a can’t-miss show.
