Rumor Killer on Shinsuke Nakamura’s WWE Status – Despite recent online rumors tied to WWE’s latest round of roster cuts on May 2, 2025, Shinsuke Nakamura has not been released. As of May 4, Nakamura remains listed as an active talent on WWE’s official website, confirming that he is still with the company.
Speculation over Nakamura’s status grew in the aftermath of the May 2 releases, especially considering his noticeably reduced role in recent months. Most notably, Nakamura was absent from the WrestleMania 41 card in April. His only appearance during WrestleMania week was in the annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the SmackDown prior to the two-night event—far from the spotlight typically afforded to a former Intercontinental and United States Champion.
His last televised singles match took place on the March 7, 2025, episode of SmackDown, where he dropped the U.S. Title to LA Knight, ending his third reign. Since then, Nakamura has been largely off television, which added fuel to rumors of a potential exit.
However, that absence appears to be by design. Reports from mid-March indicated that Nakamura was set to take time off, explaining his sporadic appearances since losing the championship. No further explanation for the time off has been officially confirmed by WWE or Nakamura himself.
For now, Nakamura remains contracted and active on the roster. Until an official update is issued by WWE or the man himself, reports of his departure remain unfounded.
