Huge 25-Man #1 Contender Battle Royal Announced for 5/6 NXT – WWE has announced a stacked card for the May 6 episode of NXT, highlighted by a massive 25-man Battle Royal to determine the No. 1 contender for the NXT Championship. The winner will challenge Oba Femi for the title at NXT Battleground.
Among the high-profile participants announced for the over-the-top-rope contest are Trick Williams, Ridge Holland, Ethan Page, Wes Lee, Lexis King, and recent NXT arrivals such as Shiloh Hill and Yoshiki Inamura. The full list of confirmed names includes:
Timothy Thatcher, Chris Island, Shiloh Hill, Ridge Holland, Sean Legacy, Brad Baylor, Ricky Smokes, Ethan Page, Josh Briggs, Yoshiki Inamura, Trick Williams, Niko Vance, Brooks Jensen, Shawn Spears, Je’Von Evans, Eddy Thorpe, Charlie Dempsey, Tavion Heights, Myles Borne, Lexis King, Wes Lee, Tyriek Igwe, and Tyson Dupont.
The Battle Royal marks Trick Williams’ first official match since his shocking post-match assault on Joe Hendry at TNA Rebellion. That confrontation will also carry over into Tuesday’s NXT, as Hendry teams with NXT Tag Team Champions Hank Walker and Tank Ledger to take on three members of DarkState — Dion Lennox, Cutler James, and Saquon Shugars. Hendry, who was blindsided and overwhelmed by DarkState during his last NXT appearance, will be looking for payback.
Additionally, rising star Zaria will face Kelani Jordan in singles action. Jordan has been gaining momentum in recent weeks, while Zaria seeks to reassert herself in the women’s division.
Also, Stephanie Vaquer will learn her her NXT Battleground opponent. On the 4/29 episode Vaquer stated that she is ready to defend her Women’s Championship. Ava then announced that Jordynne Grace will face Giulia on the May 6th episode of NXT in a #1 Contender match.
With high-stakes implications for NXT Battleground, the May 6 episode promises plenty of action and storyline progression.
