FTR Turns on Cope at AEW Dynasty – The AEW Dynasty 2025 pay-per-view delivered several unforgettable moments, but perhaps none more shocking than the implosion of Rated FTR following their AEW Trios Championship match against the Death Riders.
Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler, and Cope (formerly known as Edge) challenged for the titles in what was expected to be a hard-hitting bout, and it certainly lived up to the hype—until the match took a dark turn after the final bell. Despite a valiant effort, Rated FTR came up short in their quest to dethrone Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and Claudio Castagnoli.
What happened next marked the end of Rated FTR in the most violent way possible.
As the Death Riders celebrated their victory and left the ring, Dax Harwood showed immediate signs of discontent. Cope, still reeling from the loss, offered his hand to help Dax up. Instead of returning the gesture, Dax responded with a brutal piledriver, laying Cope out in the center of the ring. That moment alone stunned fans, but the ambush was far from over.
Dax rolled outside the ring and returned with two steel chairs—clearly preparing to execute a Con-chair-to. In a chilling turn, he handed one of the chairs to his tag team partner, Cash Wheeler, urging him to join in on the assault. Cash initially refused, shoving Dax back and defending Cope, leading the crowd to believe he was taking a stand against his partner’s sudden betrayal.
But that sympathy was short-lived.
Cash then helped Cope to his feet—only to pull him in for the Shatter Machine, with Dax joining in to complete their signature tag-team move. FTR wasn’t done. They followed up with a spike piledriver onto a steel chair before finally delivering the devastating Con-chair-to to the back of Cope’s head.
As medical personnel rushed to ringside, FTR mocked the scene with disturbing glee. When a stretcher was brought out for Cope, Cash threw it over, preventing the medical team from assisting him. To add further insult, Cash laid on top of the overturned stretcher, holding a neck brace and taunting Cope’s condition, while Dax hurled sarcastic applause toward the crowd.
The once-respected and decorated team officially burned their bridge with Cope, signaling a complete character shift and turning Rated FTR into one of the most despised acts in AEW. The betrayal wasn’t entirely unforeseen—Dax has shown subtle signs of tension with Cope and Cash in recent weeks, though nothing suggested such an unrelenting turn.
Fans now await Cope’s medical update following the post-match onslaught, but one thing is clear—FTR has fully embraced their dark side, and their actions at AEW Dynasty may have just set the tone for one of the most personal rivalries in recent memory.
