Leila Grey Confirms Torn ACL Injury

Leila Grey Confirms Torn ACL Injury – Leila Grey has confirmed that she suffered a torn ACL during her match against Mercedes Moné on the December 6 episode of AEW Collision, an injury that will require surgery and sideline her for an extended period. Despite the severity of the injury, Grey went on to accomplish a remarkable milestone just days later outside the wrestling ring.

The injury occurred during Grey’s Collision bout with Moné, which ended after Grey collapsed following a running knee strike in the corner. Moné capitalized moments later, locking in the Statement Maker to secure the submission victory. While the finish raised immediate concern, Grey later confirmed the full extent of the injury and revealed that she will be out of action for the foreseeable future.

In an inspiring turn of events, Grey competed shortly after the injury at a WBFF Pro Fitness event. Wearing a knee brace, she not only completed the competition but finished in first place, earning WBFF Pro Fitness Diva status. Grey addressed both the injury and her achievement in an emotional and celebratory social media post.

“FIRST PLACE BABY! 🥇 I just won, went Pro, and become the new WBFF Pro Fitness Diva!!….. with a freakin’ torn ACL!” Grey wrote. “For those that may not know, I tore my ACL last week in my match with Mercedes. I’ll be going into surgery and will be out of commission for a while. This couldn’t have happened at a worse time.”

She explained how the injury impacted multiple opportunities at once.

“Not only did it affect my championship match, a MAJOR opportunity for me, but it happened one week out from my debut WBFF show that I had invested so much of my life into the past year.”

Grey also addressed doubts surrounding her decision to compete while injured.

“People expected me to drop out, but honey, there’s no quit in me. I’m a boss ass baddie, and I always get the job done.”

Further insight into the injury was discussed on The Bryan & Vinny Show, where Bryan Alvarez suggested the damage may have occurred earlier in the match than initially believed.

“I actually think that she hurt her knee on a sling blade,” Alvarez said. “You can see she’s trying to get up very slowly. Then she sort of half limps into the knee in the corner and collapses.”

Grey’s determination and resilience have drawn widespread praise, even as she now faces a lengthy recovery. WrestlingAttitude.Com will continue to provide updates on her surgery and eventual return.
