Adam Copeland Reveals He Plans to Retire by End of AEW Contract – Adam Copeland has offered a candid update on how much longer he intends to wrestle, revealing that the end of his in-ring career is approaching.
Currently off AEW television following a post-match attack by FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) at AEW Dynasty, Cope has remained in the public eye with appearances at Toronto Maple Leafs playoff games. During a recent interview on First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo, the AEW star was asked directly about how much longer he plans to stay active in the ring.
“Not much longer. The schedule is far better than what it used to be. If you asked me to try and pull off over 200 days a year that I pulled before, there is absolutely no way because the recovery takes too long now,” Copeland explained. “I’ll have a match and it’ll take me a good week to finally start walking normal.”
Reflecting on his current health and age, Copeland added that the end of his current AEW contract may also mark the end of his wrestling career.
“I’ve realized now, I’m 51 years old, I figure I have until maybe 53, the end of this contract, and then it’s probably time to call it a day and get out while I can still limp away [laughs]. Lick my wounds and do a whole lot of yoga after.”
Cope, who turns 53 in October 2026, signed with AEW in late 2023 after departing WWE. His AEW run has included high-profile matches and storylines, including his current feud with the Undisputed Kingdom. However, as he continues to recover from the post-Dynasty attack, it appears his time in the ring is now on a definitive countdown.
While Copeland did not provide a concrete return date to AEW television, fans should expect a limited schedule going forward as he winds down a legendary career that spans over three decades.
