Dragon Lee Retains WWE Speed Championship, New Contender’s Tournament Announced – On the March 19th episode of WWE Speed, Dragon Lee successfully defended his WWE Speed Championship against Ivar in an action-packed match. From the opening bell, Lee used his speed to counter Ivar’s strength, quickly sending him to the outside with a dive. After getting Ivar back into the ring, Lee delivered a crossbody and followed up with a running dropkick in the corner.
Ivar, however, powered up and regained control, but Lee countered with kicks and a Death Valley Driver. Ivar countered a crossbody attempt, slamming Lee to the mat. As Ivar went for a moonsault, Lee evaded and hit a running knee strike. Ivar retaliated with a powerful kick and a powerbomb, but Lee kicked out at two. In the end, Lee stunned Ivar with a crucifix pin to secure the win and retain his title.
Following the match, the broadcast team announced the start of a new Number One Contender’s Tournament for the WWE Women’s Speed Championship. The tournament will kick off on the March 26th episode, with Sol Ruca facing Katana Chance and Michin going up against Shayna Baszler. The winner of the tournament will earn the right to challenge Candice LeRae for the WWE Women’s Speed Championship.
LeRae, the inaugural WWE Women’s Speed Champion, won the title by defeating IYO SKY in the tournament finals on the October 9th episode of WWE Speed.
