Buddy Matthews Dismisses WWE Return Rumors – Buddy Matthews is unfazed by the ongoing speculation regarding his potential return to WWE, dismissing online chatter as irrelevant. During an appearance on Wrestle Radio Australia, Matthews made it clear that rumors and fan theories, particularly those fueled by his relationship with Rhea Ripley, have no bearing on his career. He bluntly stated, “It doesn’t impact anything,” he said. “Anything that is on Insta, Twitter, or what’s it called? X, X? I don’t even use it. It’s just called negative to me. Like there is nothing positive on that,” adding that he doesn’t even engage with platforms like Instagram or X (formerly Twitter), which he described as “negative” spaces.
Matthews expressed his frustration with how speculation is often framed, explaining that it rarely contributes anything constructive. “People talk contracts and you can speculate, but when you’re putting it on a forum to try and generate either a negative—because you’re trying to generate a negative reaction regardless—it’s not ever put in a positive way,” he said. The AEW star emphasized that his primary focus remains on his work inside the ring, not the distractions of online commentary.
The speculation may continue, but Matthews made it clear that he doesn’t let it affect him. He noted, “The speculation is fine, but it doesn’t affect me. I feel like a lot of people on Twitter think that they have enough power and they’re trying to generate a reaction. But to be fair, no one’s giving a shit.”
As Matthews continues to carve out his path in AEW, with recent victories like his Full Gear: Zero Hour win, he remains unbothered by the ongoing rumors and fully committed to his current role. While fans may persist in connecting him to WWE, Matthews has made it clear that he’s not losing sleep over the speculation.
