Backstage Update on AJ Styles’ Injury Status – A few months ago, AJ Styles made his return to WWE television on SmackDown, where he faced Carmelo Hayes in a highly anticipated matchup. While Hayes secured the win, fans noticed Styles limping to the back, sparking concerns about his condition.
Initially, there was speculation that the injury might be part of a storyline. However, WWE later confirmed that Styles had suffered a legitimate mid-foot ligament sprain. The injury was later diagnosed as a Lisfranc injury, a serious condition impacting the bones and ligaments in the middle of the foot.
Styles openly discussed his condition on social media, explaining the severity of the injury. In one exchange, he stated, “It’s called a Lisfranc injury. Look it up, it sucks! I thought when I took off my boot. I would have a bone sticking out of my foot.” Responding to a fan who compared his injury to Cam Newton’s 2016 season-ending Lisfranc injury, Styles admitted, “Bingo, as the kids say….I’m cooked!”
Before the injury, WWE reportedly planned a farewell storyline for Styles. However, his injury has put those plans on hold. According to WrestleVotes on a recent edition of SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, there has been little information about Styles’ status.
“When he got hurt on that Friday night, I heard immediately, ‘Okay, it’s legit. He’s hurt.’ I haven’t heard a word about AJ Styles since. It’s very strange, to be honest, not a word. So whatever it is, they’re keeping it quiet all the way around,” WrestleVotes shared.
As of now, Styles’ recovery timeline and future plans remain uncertain, with WWE maintaining a tight lid on updates. Fans are eagerly awaiting more news about the Phenomenal One’s status.
