Britt Baker Opens Up About Navigating Toxicity on Social Media – Britt Baker has opened up about the challenges of navigating social media, a platform that has become both a vital tool and a source of negativity for many public figures. As a prominent AEW star, Baker has faced her share of criticism and toxic interactions, leading her to adopt a more assertive approach when dealing with online negativity.
In an interview with US Magazine, Baker spoke candidly about the toll of social media. “I’m exhausted. I’m not going to be polite anymore. Leave me alone. Politeness is 2024. Everyone needs to be real and authentic, and the world will be a better place,” she stated. She reflected on the difficulty of balancing her public persona with the often harsh nature of online platforms, saying, “You can’t ever believe what you read about yourself, whether it’s really good or really bad, or you’re going to end up medicated and sedated potentially.”
Baker also addressed the toxic culture of social media, noting how essential yet damaging it can be. “Social media fuels what we do, essentially. We rely on it. But man, is it toxic. It’s brutal. There’s a whole population of people on social media who just want to make you feel bad about yourself. It’s crazy we live in a world where that’s their mission,” she explained.
Baker’s comments come as many wrestlers and celebrities shift to alternative platforms, such as BlueSky, to escape the toxicity prevalent on platforms like Twitter/X. Despite the challenges, social media remains a critical tool for wrestlers to connect with fans, promote their work, and build their brands.
Most recently, Baker competed on the November 13 episode of AEW Dynamite, securing a victory over Penelope Ford. Post-match, she shared a tense staredown with Serena Deeb, hinting at a possible storyline between the two moving forward.
