Jesse Ventura Set to Return to Commentary Role for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event – As noted, WWE is gearing up to announce its first NBC primetime special since August 2008, with rumors pointing toward a Saturday night broadcast in December. There’s speculation within the company about whether this special will bring back the iconic Saturday Night’s Main Event branding. To support this, WWE recently filed a trademark for the name, signaling the potential revival of the show that holds a rich place in wrestling history.
In an update on the Straight Talk with The Boss podcast featuring Magnum TA and Greg Gagne, Gagne shared that Jesse Ventura has been signed by WWE to return as a color commentator for this special. Ventura, a legendary figure in both wrestling and commentary, is expected to reprise his role in this capacity for the NBC primetime event. Gagne explained, “They’re doing some NBC Saturday night shows, about four of them, and they’re gonna use Jesse for that.”
“Saturday Night’s Main Event” originally aired on NBC from 1985 to 1991, taking over select Saturday Night Live slots. The show moved to FOX in 1992 before being shelved. WWE revived it briefly in 2006 on NBCU, airing a few primetime specials on the USA Network until 2008. In recent years, WWE used the name for select live events, but a primetime NBC return would be the first in over a decade, bringing back a nostalgic element for longtime fans.
With Ventura’s return and the possibility of WWE reviving one of its most beloved TV specials, excitement is building for this December broadcast, which could offer a fresh take on classic wrestling entertainment.
