Veteran international star Taya Valkyrie confirms her AEW departure after opting against signing a contract extension with the company.
The announcement was officially released by Valkyrie’s management team on social media, confirming that her tenure with the company has concluded following the expiration of her contract.
Confirming Her AEW Exit And Gratitude To Fans
Reflecting on her time with the promotion, Valkyrie expressed gratitude toward the locker room and her fan base as she turns the page to her next career chapter:
“I am incredibly grateful for my time with AEW and the opportunity to be part of the organization. While there, I wrestled and worked alongside exceptional talent, and built lasting relationships within the AEW family and deepend my relationships in the wrestling community. I am beyond thankful to the fans for their continued support of me, not only in my time with AEW but also as I step into this new chapter as a free agent. I can’t wait for what’s to come and have a lot more to leave in the ring.”
Looking ahead, Valkyrie highlighted her intention to pursue ventures both inside and outside the squared circle:
“With my contract now concluded, I’m excited to explore new opportunities and possibilities as a wrestler, TV personality, and creative.”
Expanding Her Profile Beyond Professional Wrestling
Valkyrie’s move into open market free agency comes during a busy period outside the ring. She expanded her mainstream footprint this autumn by participating as a contestant on The Traitors Canada. Additionally, Valkyrie recently launched her entry into the music industry with the release of her debut EP, FAKE.
Having debuted for AEW in March 2023, Valkyrie leaves behind a tenure that saw her challenge for top honors while featuring alongside real-life husband Johnny TV and MxM Collection on both AEW programming and ROH.
