Update on Enzo Amore’s Possible WWE Return and Big Cass Reunion

Despite discussions surrounding a potential WWE return for Enzo Amore, officials reportedly had no immediate plans to reunite him with his former tag team partner, Big Cass.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided context on the situation while recapping the October 5 episode of WWE RAW. The discussion arose after Cass interfered in a tag team contest featuring Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee against Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh.

According to Meltzer, discussions had taken place regarding Amore making his return via the NXT brand, with talks previously described as being close to finalized. However, WWE creative elected to keep the duo apart, fearing that reforming the tag team could limit Cass’ potential growth as a singles competitor.

“There was talk of Enzo in NXT,” Meltzer said. “It was talked to me like it was pretty much a done deal, but they were gonna keep Enzo and Cass apart because of the idea that if they put them together, Cass’s upside is very limited in that tag team based on how WWE does tag teams.”

Meltzer noted that given Cass’ current positioning on the main roster, WWE’s stance on a potential reunion could theoretically evolve.

“But now, with Cass in the spot that he’s in, being with Enzo may not be the worst thing in a tag team,” he continued. “So I suppose they could do that.”

At the same time, Meltzer questioned what Amore would add to Cass’ presentation, considering his current dominant portrayal on television.

“Seems kind of weird,” Meltzer added. “What does Cass need Enzo for when he’s beating these guys up all by himself anyway?”

On Monday’s edition of RAW, Cass injected himself into Mysterio and Lee’s match against Judgment Day, laying out both Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee with big boots after the bell. The angle continued Cass’ ongoing rivalry with Lee, who previously defeated him in singles action on the September 28 episode of RAW.

Cass officially made his return to WWE programming on August 3, targeting Je’Von Evans.
