The arrival of Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw in TNA Wrestling has immediately altered the landscape of the tag team division, but wrestling legend Matt Hardy believes their current two-man lineup is only the beginning.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the multi-time World Tag Team Champion discussed the mysterious attackers who recently targeted The Hardys. Addressing what the former Wyatt Sicks members bring to TNA, Hardy pointed to the undeniable global reach of their recent WWE exposure.
Star Power & In-Ring Versatility
While Hardy feels WWE fell short of utilizing the duo to their maximum potential, he acknowledged that their television presence established them as high-profile competitors on a global scale:
- Carrying Bray Wyatt’s Legacy: “I think they bring a lot of star power. Obviously, WWE didn’t utilize them to their maximum potential,” Hardy explained. “But they did have that powerful debut, and they were going to be a faction that carried on kind of Bray Wyatt’s vision and kind of the TV and the character and spiritual and almost supernatural-type work that he loved to do and he loved to be involved in.”
- The Power of Worldwide TV: “They were going to carry that on, and there were some moments that were very impactful, and they had a tag-team title run there, which was nice. But still, there is no TV like the power of WWE TV, especially when it comes to a worldwide audience and fan base. So they do bring star power.”
- Joseph Sawyer’s High Ceiling: Sharing his initial backstage impressions of Sawyer ahead of recent TNA tapings, Hardy praised his multi-faceted skill set: “He’s a guy who can wrestle a variety of styles. You know, he’s just not like a brawler. He’s not just a wrestler, or he’s not just a flyer. I mean, he can do a little bit of everything… I think he has a ton of potential. He’s a really good athlete.”
A Faction Built For Expansion Beyond A Tag Team
When co-host Jon Alba questioned whether Bo Dallas or other talent could eventually align with the group, Hardy refrained from confirming specific names but pointed directly to the faction’s branding as a clear indicator of TNA’s long-term creative vision.
- “I don’t think they decided to title the faction Six just because they thought they were going to be two. So, I think a lot of things are possible going forward.” *
While Hardy stopped short of revealing timelines or official additions, his comments strongly suggest that TNA plans to build Syx into a dominant stable rather than a standard tag team.
The physical war between both sides is set to escalate immediately. The Hardys will collide with Syx in a chaotic Falls Count Anywhere match at Bound For Glory 2026, taking place live on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
