Santino Marella Signs Extension To Remain TNA Director Of Authority

Santino Marella Signs TNA Contract Extension

TNA Wrestling has secured a key figurehead for its onscreen management as Director of Authority Santino Marella officially confirmed a new contract extension with the promotion.

Marella broke the news during an interview on The Johnny I Pro Show, clearing up any remaining questions about his contractual status as the promotion heads into the final stretch of the year. According to Marella, TNA President Carlos Silva initiated talks to keep him on board, resulting in a fresh one-year agreement.

Carlos is very proactive, and he talked to me last week and said, ‘Of course, we’d love you back.’ So, I signed for another year with TNA.

Marella cited TNA’s current upward trajectory—particularly the momentum generated since Impact began broadcasting on AMC—as a primary reason for re-signing:

It’s the right time — the direction we’re going, the momentum we have. Ever since we started with AMC, it’s been incredible. The locker room continues to shine.

Responding to internet commentary and online pushback against the product, Marella noted that an increase in critics usually signals that a company is drawing real attention, adding that the promotion silenced skeptics with the success of Bound for Glory.

The extension guarantees that Marella will stay at the center of TNA’s ongoing storylines. On screen, he remains locked in a battle for control against Director of Operations Daria Rae, whose corporate mindset regularly collides with Marella’s fan-first mentality:

Being an authority figure, of course, we have an issue with Daria Rae, who’s imposing her authority. She’s business-oriented, but I think I come from the perspective of fans more, and we butt heads a little bit. It makes for entertaining TV.

Beyond his clashes with Rae, Marella continues to play a role in crossover narratives tied to his daughter, WWE NXT talent Arianna Grace, alongside Channing Lorenzo. With his new contract finalized, Marella remains firmly in charge without the distraction of an expiring deal.
