Legendary commentator Jim Ross has provided a concerning health update, revealing that he is currently undergoing additional medical testing for a spot found on his kidney while dealing with complications from a brain shunt.
Speaking on a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, the AEW announcer explained that the shunt installed during his brain surgery two months ago has caused debilitating pain. Consequently, severe headaches and fatigue have prevented him from sleeping properly.
“I saw a little spot of something on my kidney,” Ross said. “So we’re running a lot of tests. I’m getting…my shunts are bothering me in my brain. So I’m going to get a scan tomorrow and get that back to my neurosurgeon so he can tell me what the hell’s wrong. It may just need to be adjusted, that’s my take on it.”
Ongoing Complications And Additional Medical Testing
While medical professionals work to resolve the issues surrounding his brain shunt, Ross confirmed that doctors have already adjusted the device on three separate occasions. Furthermore, his medical team remains focused on evaluating the newly discovered spot on his kidney to determine whether additional intervention is required.
“I’ve had mine adjusted three times,” Ross noted. “So it’s not a recent situation. But at some point, I’ve got to deal with sleep. And I feel fatigued a lot. My oncologist is…sending me to a specialist in Oklahoma City for a little place on my kidney, but they’re not sure if its cancerous or not. So it’s been a stressful week. It really has.”
Although the ongoing health setbacks have forced him away from television broadcasts, Ross remains hopeful that proper medical care will allow him to return to the announce table soon.
