El Hijo del Vikingo Set to Undergo Additional Knee Surgery Following ACL Recovery Setback

AAA star El Hijo del Vikingo has experienced a setback in his recovery process after revealing that he is scheduled to undergo an additional surgical procedure on his left knee.

Vikingo shared the news with fans through an Instagram update, confirming that he would be back under the knife to address ongoing issues with the joint.

“Unfortunately tomorrow Mr. HDLV will undergo another knee surgery,” Vikingo wrote. “Thank you all for your support.”

The former AAA Mega Champion originally underwent surgery on July 7 after suffering a torn left ACL while preparing for a scheduled match against EK Prosper at a WWE NXT taping in late June. Following the initial operation, Vikingo had shared optimistic updates regarding his rehabilitation progress, noting that medical staff were pleased with his early mobility and physical therapy benchmarks.

Initial medical estimates placed his expected recovery window at approximately nine months, which would have kept him sidelined through early spring. However, this secondary procedure is expected to delay his eventual return to in-ring competition.

Before suffering the injury, Vikingo made an appearance on WWE SmackDown in July, competing against Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship. As a result of the extended hiatus, he was also forced to vacate the AAA Latin American Championship.
