WWE SmackDown Results – September 18, 2026 – Welcome to WrestlingAttitude’s live coverage results of WWE SmackDown on September 18, from the Hilliard Center Arena in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Nick Aldis stood in the ring and welcomed everyone to SmackDown. He said sometimes you have to deal with people who rub you the wrong way, and you still need to be professional. Aldis then introduced Sami Zayn.

Sami asked Aldis if the crowd booing him was funny. He said they would address that next. Sami said it must have hurt Aldis to introduce him as champion, but it felt good hearing it. He said he was surprised by the reaction tonight. Sami said he means what he says and says what he means. Justice for Sami wasn’t just about him — it was justice for everyone, even the ones booing. Sami said he fights for them, that this is justice for them, a symbol of hope for millions. Justice has been served and this is what it looks like.

Sami said people aren’t used to a champion with morality. He said justice is a core tenet of his beliefs, and he believes in equality. When other top stars knock on Aldis’ door, Sami expects Aldis to treat them the same way he treated him — with roadblocks.

Johnny Gargano interrupted with Candice LeRae. Johnny said they had a deal last week that he was first in line if Sami beat Punk, and he was here to collect. Sami said there was never a deal — Johnny was the one who said he was next. Johnny insisted Sami made a promise. Sami said he would take care of Johnny. Johnny wanted a title match tonight.

Aldis told Johnny he doesn’t know what’s going on between them. Sami may be champion, but he doesn’t make matches. Sami agreed it wasn’t up to him. Aldis said Johnny had a title match a few weeks ago, and the man next in line isn’t here tonight — CM Punk.

Kevin Owens’ music hit. Owens said if they were talking about people who deserve title matches, they were looking at him. Candice said Johnny was next. Owens stunned Johnny.

Aldis told Owens he doesn’t make matches and can’t reward bad behavior. Owens asked Aldis if he was high. He said Johnny screwed up how many main events to get his title match last week. Aldis agreed. Owens brought up the Triple Threat that somehow went to a No Contest because of Johnny. Aldis agreed. Owens said it all started when Sami cost him his match in Toronto. Aldis agreed. Owens called Sami an arrogant jackass. Aldis agreed again.

Sami said there was nothing to think about. Last time he won, Aldis threw CM Punk into the match at the last minute. Sami asked if Aldis was going to do it again and grabbed Aldis’ jacket. Aldis told Sami to let go. Aldis said he makes the matches, and Sami made the decision easy — Sami would defend the title against Kevin Owens tonight. Aldis asked Sami if he could get past seven for this title reign.

While Sami argued with Aldis near the stage, Randy Orton came out for his match and exchanged words with Sami.

Men’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Match: Randy Orton vs. Trick Williams vs. Rey Fenix

Randy hit Rey with a forearm at the bell. Randy and Trick locked up, Trick took a side headlock and hit a shoulder tackle. Randy answered with one of his own. Rey fired punches, Randy whipped him, Rey hit a boot and kicks. Randy charged and went shoulder‑first into the post when Rey moved. Rey sent Trick over the top and hit a crossbody on him outside.

Rey hit a moonsault for two. Trick popped Rey with a punch and a backhand. Trick stomped Rey in the corner with the crowd‑counted boots. Trick clotheslined Rey over the top, and Randy hit a backdrop driver on Rey, then on Trick. Yachty got in Randy’s face, Randy thumbed him in the eye and hit another backdrop driver.

Randy rolled Rey back in for a near fall and hit the Garvin Stomp. Randy hit a European uppercut and punched Rey. Rey escaped and hit punches of his own, then a superkick for two. Rey springboarded, Trick caught him and hit a uranage for two. Randy kicked Trick, Trick avoided the turnbuckles, and hit more crowd‑participation kicks. Trick lifted Randy, Randy escaped and hit a back elbow. Randy stomped Trick and put him on the turnbuckles. Randy punched Trick, knocked Rey off the apron, and set for a superplex. Rey hit a sunset flip powerbomb while Randy hit the superplex. Rey hit a frog splash on Randy for two.

Rey kicked both men, but Randy sent Rey into Trick. Rey swung in the ropes and hit a back heel kick on Randy, then kicked Trick in the corner. Randy clotheslined both men, ducked Rey, and hit powerslams on both. Randy set the IEDDT on Trick, but Rey kicked him from the ropes. Rey went up top, Trick shoved him off to the floor. Trick hit a cyclone kick on Randy for two.

Trick took too long, Rey hit a rana for two. Rey came off the turnbuckles, Randy hit an RKO. Trick hit a jumping knee on Randy and pinned Rey.

Winner: Trick Williams

Backstage: Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae & Sami Zayn

Johnny and Candice were backstage when Sami walked in, saying they were trying to do this to him again. Sami repeated what Nick Aldis told Johnny earlier. Sami said Johnny deserves a title shot and he’ll work on getting it for him. Sami said he cannot lose the title after seven days — if he does, will Johnny ever get another chance? Johnny said he understood. Sami told him he’s got him and they’ll talk later.

Backstage: Tama Tonga, Kyoki & Shinsuke Nakamura

Tama Tonga said his family won the titles and he never needed Shinsuke. He said Shinsuke needed him, and when he refused, Shinsuke brought in Kyoki. Tama said Kyoki should’ve stayed in Japan because everything that happened is on Shinsuke.

Kyoki spoke in Japanese, Nakamura responded in Japanese as well. Nakamura told Tama he was confused — Tama isn’t the hunter, he’s the prey.

Backstage: Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley

Flair asked Alexa if she was ready for her match. Flair then noticed Tatum setting up her special candles and asked what she was doing. Alexa told them she knows they have her back, but she needs to focus on her own match tonight. Tatum said she and Charlotte could bond because, in her mind, the tag titles are as good as theirs.

MFT (Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga) vs. BAKUSAI (Shinsuke Nakamura & Kyoki)

Kyoki and Tama started, but Kyoki demanded Talla. Kyoki punched Talla on the apron, Tama grabbed Kyoki’s hair, and Kyoki knocked Talla down again before dropkicking Tama. Kyoki hit a running dropkick off the apron on both Tongas. Talla sent Kyoki into the barricade and rolled him back in. Talla tagged and chopped Kyoki.

Nakamura tagged in with forearms and choked Talla in the corner. He hit an enzuigiri and avoided Tama, but Talla used the distraction to clothesline him. Talla hit a corner splash and a running Samoan drop for two. Tama tagged in with a sliding clothesline. Talla returned, Tama punched Kyoki, and Talla hit a running boot for two. Tama applied a Cobra Clutch.

Tama hit Nakamura with a forearm. Kyoki tagged in and hit two crossbodies. He tried a rana, Tama blocked. They traded chops — Kyoki demanded more. Talla tagged, Kyoki hit a headscissors on Tama. Talla caught Kyoki, Kyoki escaped, avoided a boot, and hit a dropkick. Talla went for a chokeslam, Kyoki countered with a DDT. Kyoki hit a senton on both Tongas. They threw Talla back in and Nakamura tagged.

Kyoki hit a dropkick, Nakamura hit a reverse exploder on Kyoki onto Talla for two. Talla hit an uppercut but missed a splash. Nakamura kicked him in the back of the head and hit a flying boot for two. Nakamura set for Kinshasa, but Tama pulled Kyoki off the apron. Nakamura hit a sliding German on Tama — and Haku cracked Nakamura with his walking stick.

Winners: Kyoki & Shinsuke Nakamura (DQ)

After the match, Haku hit Nakamura again. Talla chokeslammed Kyoki on the apron, and the Tongas hit a high‑low combination on him.

Backstage: Kevin Owens & Cathy Kelley

Cathy asked Kevin for his thoughts. Kevin said his first WWE match was against John Cena in this arena — and he beat him. Kevin said he’ll beat Sami tonight and become WWE Champion.

Finn Balor walked in, greeted Kevin, and said he was happy to see the stars align for someone. Finn reminded Kevin he’s friends with Sami and helped him win last week. Finn said he’s coming for the winner — and if he has to win Money in the Bank to do it, he will.

Backstage: Chelsea Green, Danhausen, Tiffany Stratton & Nikki Bella

Nick Aldis congratulated Chelsea Green on her win and told her she deserves to be champion. Danhausen appeared, warning that Gunther is very angry. Tiffany Stratton said she’ll be in one of the Money in the Bank qualifiers.

Nikki Bella then showed up and told Chelsea to keep her name out of her mouth. Nikki said while Chelsea barely “eeked out” a victory, she dominated Paige. She said she doesn’t need Money in the Bank because she’s a legend — and she’s coming for the title.

A recap aired of Cody failing to pull the trigger against Randy Orton at Sunday Night’s Main Event.

Cody Rhodes Interview with Michael Cole

Cole said it’s becoming a pattern — Cody not being able to pull the trigger on Randy. Cody said he doesn’t like the phrase, but he could call it mercy. That would be an excuse, and he’s not giving excuses.

Cole brought up how people call Cody QB1, the face of the company, but the “team” around him is gone. He mentioned the people who stood with Cody when he finished the story — most of whom stabbed him in the back.

Cody said maybe he should have seen it coming and beaten them to the punch. Everyone gets seduced by the biggest title in the game. Maybe he was naive to think it would be different. But QB1 isn’t over — because the team is bigger than just the people fighting for the title.

Cole asked what Cody will do when he faces Randy again.

Cody said every week he’s asked about his morality — whether he’ll turn darker. Cody asked if anyone knows something he doesn’t. All his success came from being this version of himself. He’s disrupted more than anyone except Heyman. Being uncompromised got him two Royal Rumbles, two wins over Brock, a win over Roman, a win over Cena, and a win over Randy at WrestleMania. Cody said he’s amused people think he has to change. He won’t make the same decision he made at Sunday Night’s Main Event.

Backstage: Jade Cargill & B‑Fab

Cathy Kelley interviewed Jade Cargill. B‑Fab interrupted, laughing at the idea that Tatum and Michin are next in line. Jade said her girls are next for the tag titles — and she’s not letting anyone take her spot in Money in the Bank.

Jade Cargill vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Jacy Jayne — Money in the Bank Qualifying Match

Jacy pointed up at the briefcase and all three exchanged words. Alexa swung at Jacy and missed, and Jacy yanked Alexa down by the hair. Jacy backed straight into Jade, panicked, and bailed to the floor. She climbed onto the announce table and demanded respect, but Alexa pulled her down and threw her back inside. Jacy backed away from Jade, and Alexa tried a roll‑up, but Jade didn’t budge. Jacy tripped Alexa and dragged her to the floor. Jacy grabbed a side headlock on Jade, but Jade ran her over with a shoulder. Jade slammed Jacy and covered with a Jericho‑style pin for two. Jacy answered with a headscissors takedown.

Jade spilled over the top when Jacy dropped down. Jacy tried to reset, but Jade tripped her, and Alexa kicked Jade off the apron. Alexa stomped Jacy’s head, but Jade pulled Alexa over the top rope to the floor. Jade threw Jacy into Alexa to knock Alexa off the apron. Jade missed a splash, Jacy kicked her, and Jade answered with a Bossman Slam. Jade kicked Jacy in the corner and hit a hard Irish whip. Jade dropped into push‑ups. Jacy fired forearms, Jade shut her down with a back elbow. Alexa came off the turnbuckles, Jade caught her, and hit a fallaway slam. Jacy jumped in with a lungblower to Jade.

Jacy punched Alexa and kicked her in the corner, hitting a back elbow for two. She locked on a rear chinlock, then a reverse chinlock. Alexa backed Jacy into the corner with shoulders. Jacy hit a running hip attack and put Alexa on the turnbuckles. She set for a superplex — Jade returned, slid underneath, and hit a powerbomb while Jacy completed the superplex. Jade covered both for near falls.

Jade sent Jacy into the corner and hit elbows on both women, but missed a second attempt and crashed into the post. Alexa fired shoulder tackles and strikes on Jacy, including a DDT. Alexa hit a headscissors and dropkicked Jacy to the floor. Alexa hit a cannonball off the apron on Jacy. Jade sent Alexa into the ropes and kneed her. Jacy threw Jade into the steps and hit a running knee on Alexa for two.

Alexa sent Jacy into the turnbuckles and climbed for Twisted Bliss, but Jacy rolled out. Alexa hit a crossbody on both women on the floor. Alexa threw Jacy back in and hit Sister Abigail — but Jade grabbed the referee to stop the count. Alexa hit a Thesz Press on Jade. Jade missed a bicycle kick. Alexa went for Sister Abigail again, Jade countered into Jaded — but Jacy shoved Jade off Alexa and stole the pin.

Winner: Jacy Jayne

Next Week’s Qualifiers Finn Bálor vs. CM Punk vs. Gunther Charlotte Flair vs. Lash Legend vs. Giulia

Backstage: Giulia, Nia Jax & Lash Legend

Cathy asked Giulia about next week. Giulia said the others are simply in her way. Nia asked if Giulia can handle Lash. Giulia said she hurts people she doesn’t like. Lash said she’ll win Money in the Bank. Giulia asked how Lash will look when she gets her teeth knocked out.

Backstage: Trick Williams, Lil Yachty & Sami Zayn

Lil Yachty congratulated Trick on his win. Trick said he has a plan for Baron Corbin but his focus is Money in the Bank. He greeted Gingerbead.

Sami walked up, saying he’s a two‑time champion and Trick should show him respect. Trick said he’s looking forward to taking a title from Sami again.

Damian Priest — Backstage Promo

Priest said everyone keeps asking why he did that to R‑Truth — but the real question is why it took so long. Truth kept handing out title matches, and Priest said he shouldn’t have been laughing at that. Priest said he tried to move on, but Truth never understood why.

Priest said Truth wants to call him a villain or a backstabber… but they should just call him a bad man.

WWE Undisputed Championship: Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens jumped Sami during the introductions, unloading punches until Sami bailed to the floor. Owens followed and hit a clothesline on the outside, then a back senton. Owens chopped Sami against the barricade and threw him back in, only for Sami to roll out again. Owens stayed on him with forearms, punches, and more chops. Owens dropped Sami throat‑first on the top rope, then punched him on the apron.

Owens chopped Sami against the barricade again and punched him in the eye. Sami finally created space with a DDT and choked Owens in the ropes. Sami kicked Owens repeatedly. Owens fired back with punches, Sami answered, and Owens chopped him. Sami tried to escape to the floor, but Owens stopped him on the apron. Sami dropped Owens on the top rope and hammered him with punches. Sami drove an elbow into the bridge of Owens’ nose and covered for a near fall.

Sami slapped Owens several times, then whipped him hard into the corner. Sami kicked Owens, argued with the referee, and punched Owens again. Sami threw Owens into the turnbuckles and covered for another near fall.

Owens punched Sami on the turnbuckles. Sami raked the eyes, leapt over him — but Owens superkicked him. Owens hit a back senton, then another, then a cannonball in the corner. Owens hit a Death Valley Driver for two. He went for a pop‑up powerbomb, Sami escaped, avoided a stunner, and hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for two.

They traded heavy strikes. Sami hit a boot for a near fall, then dragged his forearm across Owens’ nose and hit elbows. Sami put Owens on the turnbuckles, they traded punches, and Owens headbutted Sami down before hitting a swanton for two.

Johnny Gargano ran down, and the referee stopped him. Candice LeRae appeared on the other side and hit a tornado DDT on Owens. Sami hit a Helluva Kick — but only got a near fall. Owens countered the next Helluva Kick with a pop‑up powerbomb, then hit a stunner. Johnny put Sami’s foot on the ropes to break the count. Owens attacked Johnny and threw him into the barricade repeatedly. Owens set up a powerbomb through the announce table, but Sami hit him from behind. Owens back‑drop‑drove Sami through the announce table.

Johnny grabbed the title belt. Owens stunned Johnny. Candice distracted the referee — and CM Punk blasted Owens with the belt. Sami knocked Punk off the apron with a Helluva Kick and got a near fall. Sami screamed at the referee, hit another Helluva Kick, and finally got the three count.

Winner: Sami Zayn (retains the WWE Undisputed Championship)

After the match, Punk attacked Sami, punching him repeatedly. Punk hit a Go 2 Sleep on Sami, then a Go 2 Sleep on Owens as the show ended.

Money In The Bank Qualifiers Continue

Two more entrants for the 2026 Men’s and Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Matches will be determined tonight. Randy Orton meets AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix and United States Champion Trick Williams in a Triple Threat qualifier. Orton looks to rebound after coming up short at Sunday Night’s Main Event, while Fenix continues juggling WWE and AAA commitments, and Williams tries to secure a second major opportunity in the same week.

Jade Cargill faces Alexa Bliss and Women’s United States Champion Jacy Jayne in the women’s qualifier. Cargill has been pushing for bigger opportunities, Bliss continues her recent momentum, and Jayne enters with championship confidence. The winner joins Sol Ruca and Lola Vice, who qualified on Monday’s RAW, alongside Bron Breakker and Je’Von Evans on the men’s side.

MFT vs. Bakusai – Non‑Title Match

WWE Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga of MFT collide with Bakusai’s Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki in non‑title action. MFT last retained their titles against Damian Priest and R‑Truth on August 21. Bakusai made a strong impression in their first WWE tag team match on September 4 by defeating The Miz and Kit Wilson. Tonight’s match gives both teams a chance to build momentum heading into the fall season.

Sami Zayn Appears

Sami Zayn appears tonight after dethroning CM Punk as Undisputed WWE Champion last Friday. Despite Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae attempting to interfere, Kevin Owens shut down their plan, and Zayn still managed to secure the win. With the title picture shaken, Zayn arrives on SmackDown as the new champion.

Cody Rhodes Interview

Cody Rhodes sits down for an interview for the first time since losing to Randy Orton at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6. Rhodes has been quiet since the loss, and tonight’s interview is expected to shed light on his next steps.
