Wardlow Returns To In-Ring Action On AEW Dynamite After Two-Year Hiatus

Wardlow Returns To In-Ring Action On AEW Dynamite After Two-Year Hiatus

The main event of the September 30, 2026, special PAC Tribute edition of AEW Dynamite brought significant star power and major narrative developments, highlighted by Wardlow making his highly anticipated return to active competition.

Competing inside the ring for the first time since March 2024, the powerhouse stepped straight into high-stakes main-event action as part of a chaotic 10-man tag-team match.

Joining The Don Callis Family In Main Event Chaos

Live from the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA, Wardlow joined forces with the Don Callis Family—teaming alongside Josh Alexander, Mark Davis, Lance Archer, and Jake Doyle.

Across the ring stood the Death Riders, represented by Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, and Gabe Kidd. Before taking their places, the Death Riders paused at ringside to honor an empty chair set up in memory of the late PAC.

With Jon Moxley joining the commentary desk, the match was set to begin with the Death Riders down a man. However, the entrance theme hit a second time to reveal Bryan Danielson, who made a shock return out of retirement for one night only to serve as the mystery fifth member.

As Danielson hit the ring, all ten men erupted into an immediate brawl. Despite Wardlow’s physical presence, the Death Riders managed to secure the victory to close out the emotional broadcast.

End Of A Long Road Back To The Ring

Wardlow’s appearance marks his official in-ring comeback after an extended absence. His last official match took place on the March 13, 2024, edition of Dynamite: Big Business, where he challenged Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship.

Although he had previously aligned himself with the Don Callis Family, injuries—including a torn pectoral muscle—and outside obligations kept him sidelined for over two years. His impending return was formally teased just days earlier during AEW All Out 2026, where a vignette aired previewing his comeback.
