The September 30 special PAC Tribute edition of AEW Dynamite concluded with an unforgettable surprise as Bryan Danielson came out of retirement for one night only to compete in the main event.
Live from the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA, the emotional broadcast closed with a massive 10-man tag-team match featuring the Death Riders against the Don Callis Family.
Surprise Entrance & Chaos in Pittsburgh
The Don Callis Family was represented by a returning Wardlow alongside Mark Davis, Lance Archer, Josh Alexander, and Jake Doyle.
On the opposite side, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, and Gabe Kidd emerged for the Death Riders. The group paid tribute by pausing at the empty chair positioned at ringside in honor of the late PAC before making their way through the crowd.
With Jon Moxley joining Excalibur and Tony Schiavone on the commentary desk, the Death Riders entered the ring one man short. However, as the referee prepared to call for the bell, the Death Riders’ entrance theme hit a second time.
Danielson made a shock entrance to step up as the mystery fifth member. Joining Castagnoli, Yuta, Garcia, and Kidd, Danielson entered the ring as all ten men immediately broke into a chaotic brawl to kick off the contest.
The Death Riders ultimately secured the victory to close out the memorial broadcast.
A Double Appearance On An Emotional Night
The main event marked Danielson’s second appearance on the broadcast. Earlier in the evening, following Jon Moxley’s Continental Championship defense against Orange Cassidy, a tearful Danielson made an unannounced walk to the ring in a PAC tribute shirt to share a tearful embrace with Moxley.
Having stepped away from active competition, Danielson’s sudden return to action served as a fitting tribute to honor his late peer to close out a memorable night in Pittsburgh.
