Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Returning To WWE NXT With 14-Team Field

During the September 15 episode of WWE NXT on The CW, NXT General Manager Robert Stone officially announced the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic for 2026.

In a backstage segment, Stone revealed that this year’s iteration will feature 14 teams spanning across multiple promotions and brands, including NXT, EVOLVE, AAA, Raw, and SmackDown.

Tournament Details & Main Roster Crossover

Stone noted that the tournament is set to kick off on the September 22 episode of NXT, with official brackets scheduled to drop on social media later this week.

  • “Well at Heatwave, I said I wanted to enhance the tag team division,” Stone stated during the interview. “I feel like I’ve done that. I brought the Creed Brothers back, and every match you see, all the wrestlers, they’re leaving it all in the ring. Which is why I am so excited to officially announce I am bringing back the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. There’s going to be 14 teams from AAA, NXT, Evolve, even Raw and SmackDown.”

Former tournament winners The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed) are among the featured entries confirmed for the field.

The last Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic took place in 2024, where Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker (The WolfDogs) captured the trophy before subsequently winning the NXT Tag Team Championship.
