Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Anthony Bowens could soon be entering free agency.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Bowens’ current contract with All Elite Wrestling is set to expire on October 1, 2026. As of this writing, his deal has not been extended, and it remains unclear whether active negotiations regarding a renewal have taken place between the two sides.
Current Status And Recent All In Appearance
Bowens is currently aligned with The Opps alongside HOOK, Action Andretti, and Katsuyori Shibata. Most recently, Bowens competed at AEW All In 2026 at Wembley Stadium, where he took the pinfall loss in a tag team contest against Lio Rush and The Rascalz.
His former partner in The Acclaimed, Max Caster, is also nearing the end of his current deal. Reports last month indicated that Caster’s contract is likewise slated to expire in October 2026.
The Acclaimed were once among the most popular acts in AEW, capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championships in September 2022 and holding the titles for 140 days. While a potential reunion was teased last year, the team ultimately split on television.
Following the breakup, Bowens rebranded as “The Five Tool Player”—a nod to his collegiate baseball background—and began utilizing “The Molly Wop” as his new finishing maneuver. He later rebranded as “The Pride of Pro Wrestling” upon joining The Opps earlier this year.
WWE’s Previous Interest In Bowens
Bowens initially signed with AEW in October 2020. Fightful previously reported that WWE held significant interest in signing Bowens back in 2019, but someone within WWE’s talent relations department failed to follow up during the recruitment process, allowing AEW to secure his signature.
It is currently unknown whether WWE maintains interest in bringing Bowens in should he become an unrestricted free agent next month.
