Will Ospreay Opens Dynamite

Will Ospreay kicked off the show, stepping into the ring to a loud reaction from the crowd. He talked about how special it was to wrestle in Arena Mexico last week and how the fans there helped him push through a tough moment. He brought up last year’s Grand Slam, when he learned his grandfather passed away right before the event. The news hit him hard, knowing his grandfather wouldn’t get to see him wrestle again or be at his wedding. Ospreay said he knows exactly what his grandfather would tell him — stop feeling sorry for himself and get back to work — and that’s why he always leaves everything he has in the ring.

Ospreay mentioned the Mexican Street Fight he went through last week, only a few weeks before the biggest match of his career. He said it was brutal, but one person was watching from home: Kenny Omega. Ospreay hoped Omega finally understood what he’s capable of. He said Omega must be backstage tonight, and if Nakazawa isn’t busy grooming him, Omega should come out.

Don Callis interrupted to heavy boos. Callis said Ospreay couldn’t wait to join AEW, but Callis couldn’t wait to take advantage of it. He bragged about shaping Kenny Omega from childhood into the wrestler he became and reminded everyone how he and Omega screwed Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Title. Callis said Omega’s downfall started when he thought he didn’t need Callis anymore, which led to Callis stabbing him in the face and putting him in the hospital. Callis claimed he’s done more damage to Omega than any illness ever could.

Callis said he brought Ospreay into AEW around the same time, even booking him against Omega while standing in Ospreay’s corner. He reminded Ospreay that when Omega beat him in New Japan, Callis was standing with Omega. Callis said both men owe their careers to him and that their path to Wembley is built on Ospreay’s blood.

RPG Vice, Jake Doyle, and Mark Davis rushed the ring and jumped Ospreay from behind as Callis yelled for them to target the neck. Davis set up for a piledriver, but Kenny Omega’s music hit. Omega walked out slowly with a steel pipe. Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta ran up the ramp and got dropped immediately. Doyle took a shot in the ring while Davis bailed out.

Omega stood over Ospreay and looked at the pipe, teasing a swing but stopping himself. Omega said Ospreay speaks from the heart and he felt every word, but Ospreay lets his emotions get the best of him and stops thinking. Omega told him everything happening with Callis and Moxley has turned Ospreay into someone who’s going to lose everything. Omega said that’s not the man he wants to face at Wembley. He offered his hand, and Ospreay accepted.

Ospreay told Omega he appreciated the assist, but he didn’t ask for it — and won’t need it again.

MJF vs. Nick Wayne vs. Speedball Mike Bailey – Casino Gauntlet #2 Spot

MJF marched straight to the ring, grabbed Justin Roberts by the collar, and demanded to be introduced as the “One True Champion.” As soon as the bell rang, he bailed to the floor, grabbed a headset, and told the audience he’d let “these two twinks” wear each other out before proving why he’s the top champion. He called Schiavone a “fat old prick” while Wayne and Bailey tore into a fast exchange in the ring.

Wayne and Bailey traded quick counters until Bailey snapped off a hurricanrana that sent Wayne outside. Wayne came right back with a jumping elbow. Bailey rolled out, but Wayne hit the first dive of the match. Wayne took too long posing, and Bailey cracked him with a pump kick and followed with a Triangle moonsault to the floor. MJF teased a dive, flipped off the crowd instead, and got blasted by a Bailey missile dropkick. Bailey lined up Ultimate Weapon on Wayne, but MJF swept his legs and ordered Wayne to attack Bailey’s ribs.

They worked over Bailey together. MJF raised Wayne’s arm and told him to show off. Wayne hit a standing Sliced Bread. MJF tried to steal the pin, but Wayne broke it up. MJF yelled that Wayne should be grateful to share a ring with him, then slapped him. Wayne answered with a thrust kick. Wayne and Bailey traded boots until Bailey missed a standing Shooting Star. Wayne hit a Dragon Suplex, missed a Destroyer, and Bailey crushed him with moonsault double knees. MJF cut Bailey off on the ropes. Bailey avoided Heatseeker. MJF slid outside. Bailey hit a springboard moonsault wiping out both men heading into break.

During commercial, MJF begged Paul Wight for help. Wight brushed him off. Schiavone told Wight to step on MJF’s hand.

Back live, Bailey rolled through Wayne’s Shooting Star attempt and caught MJF charging with Collision Course for two. Bailey dropped Wayne with a Falcon Arrow and hit a Shooting Star for another near fall. Bailey set up Time Adventure, but Wayne countered with the Prodigy Plex. MJF came in, Wayne punched him in the ribs, thanking him for the earlier “advice.” Wayne went for Wayne’s World, but MJF swatted him out of the air and hit the powerbomb‑to‑knee. Bailey broke the pin with a Shooting Star. Bailey hit the corner roundhouse and landed Ultimate Weapon on Wayne, but MJF threw Bailey out and immediately locked Salt of the Earth on Wayne. Wayne tapped out in seconds.

After the match, MJF grabbed a mic and bragged that he told everyone exactly how this would go. He said the champion never loses and he’s walking into Wembley as the champion no matter what anyone thinks. Andrade’s music played, but MJF laughed it off as a fake‑out. He said Andrade isn’t here because he beat him down last week and called him a gutless worm. MJF said Omega and Ospreay are terrified of him and should be praying they don’t have to face him. He said sooner or later they’ll learn the hard way that he’s the One True Champion.

Winner: MJF – Earns #2 Spot in the Casino Gauntlet

Divine Dominion Segment

Divine Dominion are shown inside The Brawling Birds’ bar, taking shots at their challengers for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles at All In. They say what happened last week was only a preview of what they can do. They tell the Birds to bring everyone they care about to Wembley, because it’s going to be a massacre. They toast to The Brawling Birds, saying the team had a nice run. Bayne and Kross clink their beers and smash the glasses. They’ll be wrestling on Collision.

Mick Foley & The Bang Bang Gang

Mick Foley is backstage with The Bang Bang Gang. Jay White officially welcomes Foley into the group. White says ever since he came back to AEW, The Dogs have managed to get the upper hand on them, but that ends tonight. He promises to put David Finlay down and hopes Jon Moxley advances so he can beat him too. Foley joins in with the Gunns Up.

Switchblade Jay White vs. David Finlay – Continental Cup

Renee Paquette was at ringside before the match, noting Juice Robinson told her that in another life White and Finlay would be close enough to be brothers, but tonight they were out to tear each other apart.

Finlay charged at the bell, but White cut him off and chopped him around ringside. Back inside, Finlay got a brief opening, but stopped to pose and paid for it when White hit a backbreaker for two. White followed with a hurricanrana out of the corner and sent Finlay to the floor with a clothesline. White met him outside with a slingshot crossbody. He dropped Finlay with a front‑face suplex on the apron, then hit a big suplex back in the ring for a near fall. Finlay answered with a throat chop and a neckbreaker, taking control as the show went to break.

White fought back after the commercial, hitting an underhook suplex into the corner for a double down. The pace picked up. White drilled Finlay with a snap DDT for two. Finlay slipped out of Blade Runner and both men traded quick near falls until Finlay landed a heavy backbreaker. Finlay tried to haul White up for a back superplex, but White fought out, hit a Flatliner, and followed with a deadlift German. White couldn’t capitalize, grabbing at his neck as the crowd went silent. Referee Rick Knox checked on him. White seemed okay at first, but Finlay smashed him with a huge back elbow.

White grabbed Knox and yelled “no” as Finlay hit a snap DDT, but White kicked out. Finlay went for the Dominator, but White slipped free and fired body shots. They traded finisher attempts until White hit the Dominator for two. Finlay escaped Blade Runner and nailed Into Oblivion, but White survived again. Finlay hammered him with repeated standing lariats, finally dropping him on the third. Finlay set up Overkill, but White blocked the knee and caught him with a sudden Blade Runner to win.

Winner: Jay White

Hangman Adam Page & Brodido’s Title Celebration Interrupted

Tony Schiavone introduced the new AEW Trios Champions, and Hangman Adam Page, Bandido, and Brody King walked out to a loud reaction from the Vegas crowd. Footage aired of last week’s win over The Demand. The trio celebrated, and Page started to speak in Spanish before Swerve Strickland’s music cut him off. Strickland walked out with Prince Nana.

Nana told Schiavone to leave, saying he and Strickland would be handling the questions now. Strickland asked “Whose House?” and said the three men in the ring were trauma bonding. He pointed out that he’s had issues with all of them, yet now they’re standing together as champions. He asked what they even have in common besides him. Strickland said he and Bandido tore it up at Double or Nothing, but Bandido came up short. He reminded Brody King that the last time he saw him, King was lying in a pool of his own blood. Strickland said everything circles back to Page. Earlier this year, they were aligned, but the moment Strickland looked away, Page cost him any chance at another AEW World Title shot. Strickland questioned what Page’s legacy even looks like now.

Page fired back, saying he never took his eyes off Strickland. He said Strickland has no room to talk after everything he’s done, and he still has nothing to show for it.

The Demand’s music hit. Ricochet walked out with Gates of Agony and The Lethal Twist. Ricochet asked Strickland if he even had partners, unless Nana planned to drag himself back into the ring. He said Kaun and Liona would be happy to finish him off. Ricochet said Strickland and everyone out there turned on him and threw toilet paper at him, while Nana abandoned Gates of Agony. Ricochet said he saw their potential and they became Trios Champions — the belts the men in the ring stole from them. He said they’re lucky this isn’t the NFL, because replay would show Liona’s shoulder was up. They demanded their rematch. Ricochet warned that if the right hand doesn’t get you, the left will.

Ricochet pointed out that Strickland had nine people out there who hated him and told him to get out of his arena. Strickland started to leave with Nana, but turned back and said King does all the barking while Ricochet is a “bitch.” Page agreed with Strickland, telling Ricochet to bring his “dumbass” to the ring. Ricochet said it was a great idea — but they’d do it on their own time.

Backstage – Willow Nightingale Attacked

Footage aired of Renee Paquette interviewing Willow Nightingale. Mercedes Mone charged in and smashed Willow with the Owen Hart Title, calling her a “dumb bitch.”

Kevin Knight (w/Don Callis) vs. Jericho – TNT Title

Knight tried to jump Jericho at the start, but Jericho planted him with a brainbuster. Paul Wight talked about Jericho being his favorite tag partner and how much fun he had teaming with him. Jericho hit ten punches in the corner and followed with a top‑rope hurricanrana. Knight went over the top from a clothesline, and Jericho hit a dive from the turnbuckles to the floor. Jericho hugged Wight at commentary, giving Knight time to recover. Knight came back with a leaping clothesline off the barricade as the show went to break, where Callis got in cheap shots and yelled at Wight.

Knight tried a Lionsault after the break, but Jericho blocked it with the knees. Jericho hit shoulder tackles and chops. He missed a charge toward the ramp, and Knight cleared the top rope with a clothesline. Jericho fought back and stalked Callis at ringside, but it was a setup. Knight tried another slingshot attack, and Jericho caught him in mid‑air with a knee lift. Back in the ring, Jericho swept the legs and went for the Walls of Jericho, but Knight rolled him into a series of cradles. Knight tried a backslide with his feet on the ropes, but Aubrey Edwards caught him. Jericho tried his own schoolboy with the ropes and got away with it, but only for a near fall. Knight recovered first and hit a pendulum DDT.

They battled on the turnbuckles. Knight taunted the crowd, giving Jericho time to counter the hurricanrana into an avalanche powerbomb and transition into the Walls of Jericho. Callis teased entering the ring, so Jericho dragged Knight toward him. Callis stabbed Jericho in the head with a screwdriver. Knight broke free, hit the Coast to Coast, but Jericho kicked out. Knight set Jericho up for the UFO Splash, but Jericho caught him with a Codebreaker in mid‑air for a close two. Jericho missed a Judas Effect and nearly hit Aubrey, who turned away. Knight hit a low blow and followed with Crash Landing to retain the title.

Winner: Kevin Knight

Death Riders Training

Backstage, the Death Riders were training. Claudio Castagnoli said he doesn’t care who he faces next because he’ll beat anyone the same way. His voice was barely audible until PAC chimed in, saying “against the world.” Jon Moxley said anything can happen in the Continental Cup. He could lose to Jack Perry tonight in Las Vegas. He asked if Perry lives the way they live. Maybe it doesn’t matter, because fortune does whatever she wants. Moxley went back to grappling with Yuta to end the segment.

Kris Statlander vs. Viva Van

Van opened fast with a snap hurricanrana and tried a running boot, but Statlander caught her and tossed her down with a slam. Van avoided a corner attack with an up‑kick and hit a Koppo Kick. She went for a springboard, but Statlander swatted her out of the air. Statlander climbed the ropes for a superplex, but Van countered with a front‑face suplex and followed with a missile dropkick for two.

Van tried to lift Statlander into an Electric Chair, but Statlander rolled through. They traded heavy shots until Van slipped out of a lariat. Statlander hit a thrust kick, followed with a discus lariat, and finished with Wednesday Night Fever for the win. Quick match, but lively.

Winner: Kris Statlander

Post‑Match – Mick Foley Interviews Statlander

Mick Foley came out to interview Statlander and showed off a new shirt from ShopAEW.com, pointing out his daughter Noelle in the front row. Foley said he spoke with Tony Khan backstage and announced Statlander will be part of a four‑way next week. Maya World will defend the TBS Title against Statlander, Hikaru Shida, and Persephone.

Statlander said she’s ready for a fight. She said Maya World earned the TBS Title and she’s proud of her, but Shida and Persephone will pay for every sneak attack they’ve pulled. She said she’ll make them bend over backwards and shove their heads up their own asses. Statlander said she was built for the TBS Title and has fought wars for it.

Persephone’s music hit. She walked out with Hikaru Shida for the upcoming tag match. Thunder Rosa and TBS Champion Maya World came to the ring and stood with Statlander for a moment before Statlander left with Foley.

CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone & Hikaru Shida vs. TBS Champion Maya World & Thunder Rosa

Persephone bailed out right away to avoid locking up with Maya World, telling her they’ll fight when she decides. That left Shida and Rosa to start things off. They ran through a fast exchange, with Shida hitting a double‑jump arm drag and headscissors that sent Rosa into the ropes. Rosa answered with double knees. Persephone wandered in, missed a wild right hand, and Shida got knocked outside. Rosa fought back, but Shida ate a baseball slide. Persephone grabbed Rosa’s ankle and slingshotted her throat‑first under the bottom rope. World got hit with a cheap shot, and the heels controlled heading into commercial.

During the break, Persephone and Shida kept Rosa isolated. Rosa finally countered a double suplex into a double DDT. She reached World for the hot tag, and the crowd erupted. World hit a two‑for‑one dropkick off the top and followed with corner strikes. She kept rolling with a fallaway slam into an O’Connor Roll for two. World hit a crossbody off the apron on Persephone and tagged Rosa back in, but Shida blasted World with a running boot off the apron.

Shida and Rosa traded shots. Shida hit a Falcon Arrow for two, but World broke it up. World hit a rolling cazadora on Persephone and jumped into a Stunner on Shida. Persephone cracked World with a right hand and held her for Shida, but Shida charged and hit Persephone instead. Shida stumbled, and World caught her with a bridging fallaway slam for the pin. Strong win for the TBS Champion. Statlander came out afterward and celebrated with Rosa and World.

Winners: Maya World & Thunder Rosa

Darby Allin Backstage

Darby Allin walked backstage and said he hasn’t had time to process losing the AEW World Title, because Kevin Knight jumped him right after the match. Allin said he has no regrets about his chaotic title run — he burned the candle at both ends, and Knight is doing the same now. Knight beat Jericho tonight, the first AEW World Champion, but did it the wrong way. Allin said their Falls Count Anywhere match at Wembley will be a different world. Knight can train all he wants, but he won’t be ready. If Knight can beat Allin at his own game, then he’ll finally live up to the potential Allin saw in him years ago.

Renee Paquette Interviews Kyle Fletcher & Don Callis

Renee Paquette is backstage with Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis, congratulating Fletcher on last week’s TNT Title defense. Fletcher thanks her and says Speedball Mike Bailey always pushes him to his limit. He mentions how big it is to defend the TNT Title in another country, especially at All In in the United Kingdom.

Callis jumps in and says he’s been talking with Tony Khan about Fletcher’s next defense. He says the challenger is someone who never got his rematch. Fletcher immediately asks him not to say Takeshita. Callis says it’s not just Takeshita — the match will be Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada. Okada steps into frame.

Callis says this guarantees the Callis Family a win. Okada says the only thing that matters is the title staying in the Family. Callis and Okada hype each other up and fist‑bump. They turn back around, but Fletcher has already walked off, annoyed.

Okada and Callis as a buddy duo remains completely ridiculous — and perfect.

Jon Moxley vs. Jungle Jack Perry – Continental Cup

Renee Paquette noted this was the first singles meeting between two men who have held every championship in AEW. For Moxley, it was do‑or‑die — a loss meant losing the Continental Title. They started cautiously, trading early control until Perry knocked Moxley outside and hit a baseball slide. Perry went for a dive, but Moxley smashed him out of the air with a forearm. Moxley bounced Perry’s head off the ring post, and Perry came up bleeding. Moxley missed a charge into the barricade. Perry tried Sliced Bread, but Moxley countered and slammed him through the timekeeper’s table as the show went to break. Doc Sampson checked on Perry, but Moxley shoved him away and kept biting at Perry’s cut during commercial.

Back live, Moxley taunted Perry, asking if he really thought he was ready to be a main‑eventer. Perry fired back with a dropkick that sent Moxley outside. This time Perry hit a low tope, then another through the middle rope, and followed with a somersault suicida. He capped it off with an Orihara Moonsault. Back in the ring, Perry hit a top‑rope elbow for two. Moxley popped up into a sleeper, but Perry rolled him into a near fall. Moxley answered with a brutal lariat and a Gotch‑Style Piledriver for another two. A second lariat folded Perry, and Moxley unloaded punches. Referee Paul Turner stepped in as if the match might be stopped, but Perry refused to quit. He slapped Moxley and flipped him off repeatedly.

Perry staggered to his feet and walked through Moxley’s forearms, then blasted him with a huge lariat. Perry dropped Moxley with a thrust kick and tried for a piledriver, but couldn’t get it. Moxley backdropped out, but Perry rolled through and locked in the Snare Trap. Excalibur pointed out Moxley’s history of panicking in submissions. Moxley fought out and transitioned into a Bulldog Choke. They stood up, Perry fading, and Moxley adjusted his grip, hooked both legs, and Perry passed out.

Winner: Jon Moxley

After the match, Moxley offered his hand and showed respect to Perry as the show closed.

AEW Dynamite Preview – August 12

TNT Championship Match

Kevin Knight defends the TNT Championship against Chris Jericho. Knight has been on a strong run, stacking wins over Darby Allin, Lio Rush, Brian Cage, HOOK, Dezmond Xavier, Myron Reed, and MJF across Dynamite and Collision. Knight and Jericho crossed paths last Wednesday at Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico, where Jericho teamed with Mistico and Allin to beat Knight, Kazuchika Okada, and Hechicero. Tonight, Knight looks to keep his momentum while Jericho aims to turn last week’s win into championship gold.

Continental Challenge Cup Tournament

Two more first‑round matches take place tonight as the Continental Challenge Cup continues. Continental Champion Jon Moxley faces Jack Perry, while David Finlay meets Jay White. The tournament has already seen Orange Cassidy, Eddie Kingston, and Claudio Castagnoli advance after their wins on Collision. Moxley leads the Death Riders into the bracket, White represents The Bang Bang Gang, and Finlay enters with The Dogs behind him. Tonight’s results will shape the next round of blind draws.

Three‑Way Match for Casino Gauntlet Position

MJF returns to the ring for the first time since losing the AEW World Championship to Kenny Omega at Beach Break on July 8. He faces Nick Wayne and “Speedball” Mike Bailey in a Three‑Way Match.
