Brie Bella’s match at WWE SummerSlam Night 1 ended with a legitimate injury, with Triple H confirming after the event that she was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
Brie teamed with Nikki Bella and Paige against Fatal Influence members Jacy Jayne, Lainey Reid, and Fallon Henley during the event. The injury concern began after Jayne delivered a cannonball that sent Brie crashing into the steel ring steps.
Following the impact, Brie immediately grabbed her right shoulder and continued protecting the area throughout the rest of the match. A referee was also seen checking on her after the spot, but Brie managed to continue competing.
Although she finished the match, her role in the post-match segment appeared limited. After Fatal Influence earned the victory, Brie and Nikki shocked fans by turning on Paige. Nikki carried out most of the attack, while Brie only contributed briefly before repeatedly holding her shoulder.
Brie Bella Shoulder Injury Update After SummerSlam
During the SummerSlam post-show, Triple H provided an update on Brie’s condition and confirmed that the injury was legitimate.
Triple H explained that Brie had already received treatment backstage before being transported to the hospital for scans.
“No, she’s injured. I don’t have an update yet. She had some treatment here and has been taken to the hospital to get scans on it.”
He also admitted that the situation appeared concerning, although WWE was waiting for the medical results before determining the severity.
“I know her shoulder seems bad. I don’t have that answer, though, but we will know soon.”
The injury could force WWE to adjust its plans depending on the final diagnosis. Triple H noted that changes would be made if necessary.
“That’s the nature of the game, and we will pivot accordingly.”
According to Triple H, Brie’s injury appeared to be the only major physical issue coming out of the first night of SummerSlam.
The timing is especially unfortunate for The Bella Twins. Nikki Bella had recently returned from an ankle injury, and Brie’s comeback match could now lead to another extended absence.
Despite the injury, Brie was able to complete the match and participate in the storyline angle involving Paige. WWE will now wait for the scan results before deciding the next steps for her recovery and the ongoing rivalry.
