WWE SummerSlam Night 1 kicked off with a high-stakes Women’s World Championship match as Iyo Sky challenged Liv Morgan for the title.
Iyo earned the opportunity after defeating Liv Morgan in the Queen of the Ring finals, setting the stage for a highly anticipated rematch on one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year.
The match proved to be a competitive back-and-forth contest, with both competitors showcasing their athleticism and resilience. However, the bout did not come without controversy, as The Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez got involved, creating a distraction that ultimately impacted the outcome.
In the closing moments, Iyo Sky attempted to finish the match with her signature Over the Moonsault, but Liv Morgan countered by getting her knees up at the last second. Capitalizing on the opening, Morgan quickly shifted momentum in her favor.
The champion connected with Oblivion, followed by a Codebreaker, and then delivered a second Oblivion to secure the victory.
With the win, Liv Morgan successfully retains the Women’s World Championship and continues her dominant run. The victory also keeps her undefeated streak at SummerSlam intact, further solidifying her track record on WWE’s biggest stage.
Despite the loss, Iyo Sky delivered a strong performance and pushed the champion to her limits, but outside interference proved to be a key factor in the final result.
