Nick Jackson says he passed concussion testing after AEW Redemption, but he’s still dealing with lingering effects from a head injury suffered last month. The Young Bucks defeated Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay at the Bell Centre in Montreal, but fans noticed Nick was missing from the ring for a stretch early in the match. Commentary worked the absence into the story, and he eventually returned to help secure the win.
On the latest Being The Elite, Jackson explained that he was hurt during the match and went straight to the trainer’s room afterward.
“I went to the trainer’s room, of course. I had to take multiple concussion tests and I passed, so that’s good. They said I definitely had my bell rung, but I had a lot of dizziness.”
He said the symptoms felt familiar because of an incident at Forbidden Door last month.
“The last pay-per-view, I landed right on my head. Landed right on my head, and that was not a concussion or anything. It was considered a whiplash injury. Ever since then, though, I’ve had these weird effects where I feel kind of like foggy because of the neck. I didn’t have any vision issues or any of that, but today, it felt very similar to what I was experiencing last month.”
Jackson says dehydration and low carbs played a role
By the time he recorded the segment, Jackson said he was feeling better and pointed to two factors he believes contributed to the dizziness.
“Now I feel a lot better. The doctor said that I’m probably not healing fast enough because I’m not having enough carbs, which is true. And I definitely felt dehydrated today, so I think I’m partially to blame for that.”
The Young Bucks now move toward one of AEW’s biggest matches of the year. They will challenge Adam Copeland and Christian Cage for the AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championship at All In on August 30 at Wembley Stadium. Copeland and Cage retained their titles against Claudio Castagnoli and PAC at Redemption, officially setting the match.
Also confirmed for All In are Kenny Omega defending the AEW Men’s World Championship against Will Ospreay, and Willow Nightingale defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against Mercedes Moné.
