Mick Foley’s WWE Legends Contract Expires, Confirms New Chapter With AEW

Mick Foley is no longer under contract with WWE, bringing an end to a business relationship that spanned decades.

With June now complete, Foley’s WWE Legends deal has officially expired. The WWE Hall of Famer had already confirmed in December 2025 that he would not be renewing the agreement, citing what he described at the time as the company’s “close relationship” with President Donald Trump.

Despite that decision, Foley remained on good terms with WWE in recent months. His previous deal was strictly a Legends contract, which focused on merchandising and licensing rather than an active in-ring role. That allowed him to make an appearance for AEW back in May without breaching any contractual obligations.

Following the expiration of his deal, Foley released a video message addressing WWE and the fans, expressing appreciation for his time working with the company.

“Hey everyone, this is Mick Foley and I do have a message for WWE, along with all my fans and fans of wrestling in general,” Foley said. “The message for WWE, and specifically for their merchandise and marketing people, the message is: Thank you. And I mean that sincerely.”

Foley also reflected on his long history with WWE merchandise, recalling how he once believed his first action figure in 1996 would be his only one. He credited the company’s team for continuing to feature him over the years and noted that he recently received his largest quarterly royalty payment in around ten years.

“For fans, I want you to know that I have no problem signing WWE memorabilia. I look forward to it. I’m proud of everything I did there,” he said. “But it’s time for a new chapter in my career and in my life, and I’m really looking forward to this adventure with AEW. And I’m really looking forward to doing everything I can possibly do to make AEW as great as it can possibly be.

“And I’m looking forward to having some merchandise coming out with AEW, in addition to a couple of other companies that I just talked to today that have a couple of exciting ideas. And I will be rolling out those ideas sometime soon.”

Foley closed by thanking fans for their continued support throughout his career.

“Thanks so much not only to WWE, but for all of you out there who have supported me over the years, bought my merchandise, attended my shows, have cared about me enough to comment, like, and support me,” Foley said. “Wishing you all the best, have a nice day.”

Mick Foley Begins Post-WWE Chapter

With his WWE Legends contract now expired, Foley is free to expand his involvement outside the company. His recent AEW appearance and comments suggest that he plans to stay active in the wrestling world while exploring new opportunities in merchandising and appearances.
