Cody Rhodes has pointed to a key issue that can impact talent transitioning from NXT to WWE’s main roster, emphasizing that time management is not always something new arrivals are fully prepared for.
Speaking on “What Do You Wanna Talk About?”, Rhodes explained that the fast-paced environment behind the scenes on RAW and SmackDown can be difficult to navigate at first.
“One of my things that I know is not taught necessarily when they come up can be time management, when it comes to how SmackDown and Raw work. Because it is terrifying,” Rhodes said.

Rhodes described how quickly responsibilities stack up once talent arrives at the arena, creating a demanding schedule that can be hard to manage.
“You get there and it’s, ‘Oh, we’re doing your walk in 30 minutes.’ And as soon as your walk’s done, ‘Can you be at the ring, you’re late for your rehearsal?’ You booked the walk, how am I late for the rehearsal?” he said.
He noted that while the situation can feel overwhelming, it is part of a larger system where every department is working on a tight schedule.
“They have a job to do so you can’t get mad at them, but then also you’re trying to focus on the content,” Rhodes said. “I’m gonna deliver this unbelievable promo, I’m gonna do something physically impressive.”
Rhodes shared these thoughts while praising a rising talent for adjusting well to the demands of the main roster. He explained that the goal is not simply to get through the experience, but to feel fully prepared in every aspect.
“That’s where I’ve seen, you’re excelling at this so far in what you’ve done. It’s hard to get it all to where you don’t wanna feel like you overcame, you wanna feel fully prepared,” he said.
His comments provide insight into the challenges faced by NXT call-ups as they adapt to the structure and pace of WWE’s flagship shows.
