Sheamus has shared a detailed update on the shoulder injury that has kept him out of action since November, confirming he underwent surgery at the end of 2025 and is working toward a return.
Speaking on OTB Football, the former world champion explained that the issue began months before he stepped away from the ring. He traced the injury back to a match in Paris earlier in the year, where he first felt something was wrong.
“Yeah, this one has been difficult. It kind of came out of nowhere. I started noticing my shoulder around May-June at Clash in Paris against Rusev. It was bothering me and I thought I tore it. I got a couple of shots in there and it felt good for a little while, but ultimately it was just a matter of time before it stopped moving on me. I tried to push through it to the point where I couldn’t move my arms. I had surgery on December 30. Ever since then, I’ve been rehabbing. I’m dying to get back in the ring and back to work. I have cabin fever,” Sheamus said.
The injury gradually worsened despite his attempts to continue competing. He managed the issue with treatment for a period, but it eventually reached a point where surgery was required.
Sheamus last competed on an episode of WWE RAW on November 17. On that night, he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio to defeat The Judgment Day. That match ended up being his final appearance before undergoing surgery.
Since then, Sheamus has remained active outside the ring while continuing his rehabilitation. He made a public appearance during the 2026 NFL Draft, where he announced a pick for the Tennessee Titans.
There is currently no confirmed timeline for his return to in-ring competition. However, his comments make it clear that he is focused on recovery and motivated to get back as soon as he is cleared.
