Kota Ibushi Shares Major Recovery Update Following Injury

Kota Ibushi has provided a positive update on his recovery as he continues to work his way back from a serious leg injury that has kept him out of action since late 2025.

In a recent Instagram post, Ibushi revealed noticeable progress in his rehabilitation. He shared a video showing that he can now perform squats and move up and down stairs without assistance. The improvement is significant, especially considering that he stated he could barely walk just one week earlier. Ibushi is currently in Japan but noted that he plans to return to Florida soon to continue his recovery process.

“Hello. It’s been about two months since my second surgery. I will definitely be back, so please wait for me,” Ibushi wrote. “Sending these feelings to Kenny, Bucks, and Tony Khan!!”

The injury occurred in October 2025 during a match against Josh Alexander at an AEW Collision taping, where Ibushi suffered a broken femur. He underwent surgery shortly after the incident. However, complications followed when a screw became loose, forcing him to have a second operation in February 2026.

Due to the severity of the injury, early expectations suggested Ibushi could be sidelined for up to two years. Despite that projection, his recent update shows clear progress, and he appears focused on returning sooner if possible.

Ibushi also drew motivation from recent events in AEW. During the Dynasty pay-per-view, Kenny Omega challenged MJF for the AEW World Championship in the main event but was unsuccessful. After watching the match, Ibushi responded to a clip on social media and credited Omega for inspiring him during his recovery.

“You’ve given me courage. Thank you, Kenny,” Ibushi wrote. “I’ll do my best to step up towards the first stage of my comeback.”

While there is still no confirmed timeline for his return, Ibushi’s latest update shows steady progress and a determined mindset as he continues working toward getting back in the ring.
