WWE Pushing for Jacob Fatu to Enter WrestleMania Title Picture – While Roman Reigns is set to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42, much of the remaining creative direction for the show is reportedly still unsettled. The biggest question mark centers around the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Drew McIntyre has held the Undisputed WWE Title for just over a month. Although Cody Rhodes has been rumored as his likely opponent, a new report indicates that Jacob Fatu is still firmly in the mix.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, members of WWE’s creative team are pushing for Fatu to be featured in the championship match during WrestleMania weekend. However, Fatu is not currently scheduled to compete in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match, which will determine McIntyre’s challenger. With Rhodes considered the favorite to win that bout, Fatu would need another storyline path to secure a spot in the title picture before April.
The report also notes growing concern behind the scenes. Several WWE departments are said to be feeling pressure as key deadlines approach for WrestleMania promotional materials. There is reportedly worry that the company may be falling behind in preparing assets tied to finalized match graphics and marketing plans.
In addition, WrestleVotes previously reported that WWE has discussed shifting from a traditional singles title match to a multi-man format. A five-pack or six-pack challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship has been floated internally. Potential names mentioned alongside McIntyre include Rhodes, Fatu, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, and Aleister Black.
Heading into the weekend, Rhodes and Orton are the only two from that group currently set to compete inside the Elimination Chamber. With creative plans still described as fluid, the final direction for the Undisputed WWE Title at WrestleMania 42 remains to be seen.
