Peter Rosenberg Fires Back at Fans After AJ Styles WWE Future Comments – AJ Styles’ in-ring WWE career may have come to an end at Royal Rumble 2026, but the discussion intensified after comments made by Peter Rosenberg on the post-show. Rosenberg, an ESPN personality and regular presence on WWE kickoff programming, drew heavy criticism online after stating that Styles personally told him he was finished wrestling.
The backlash began when Rosenberg mentioned on the Royal Rumble post-show that Styles had informed him his in-ring career was over. That statement quickly spread across social media, with some fans accusing Rosenberg of overstepping or revealing information that should have been left for Styles to announce himself.
On February 1, Rosenberg responded directly to the criticism by posting a video on X, firmly standing by what he said. In the video, Rosenberg addressed the reaction he saw after landing from a flight, saying, “Got off the plane and I see a lot of chatter on the Internet about the fact that on the post show I said I spoke to AJ Styles and his in-ring career is over. I don’t know why this gets people angry. Besides the fact that y’all just hate on me for everything I say and do.”
Rosenberg reiterated that his comments were based on a direct conversation with Styles. However, he emphasized that he intentionally kept details private out of respect. He explained, “I try to give real information on the post show. I wasn’t going to say every word AJ told me because it was a private conversation. But I can tell you what the theme was. He is done.”
Addressing claims that he was trying to hurt Styles’ legacy or create controversy, Rosenberg pushed back strongly. He noted that he had previously hoped Styles might continue wrestling elsewhere if his WWE run ended. “I’ve been saying for weeks I hoped the plan was that if he lost, he goes to TNA and we see more of AJ Styles,” Rosenberg said. “All I can report is what he told me—that he’s done. Now if he’s working me, fantastic. I love being worked.”
Rosenberg closed his remarks with a blunt message to critics, saying, “You guys getting mad and thinking I’m hating on AJ because he says it’s done… I don’t know what you want. He wrestled, he lost, he’s retiring. Get a life.”
He later shared the video with a written message praising Styles’ career and reaffirming his stance. Styles lost to GUNTHER in a career-ending match at Royal Rumble Riyadh, though his post-match decision to put his gloves back on rather than leave them in the ring continues to fuel speculation.
