Backstage News on Ava’s WWE Departure – Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the latest details surrounding Ava’s exit from WWE during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. The discussion followed confirmation that Ava’s final appearance as NXT General Manager took place on last Tuesday’s episode of NXT, as she ultimately decided not to re-sign with the company.
According to Meltzer, multiple sources indicated that Ava’s decision was personal rather than the result of creative issues or contract disputes. He explained that there was no single event that led to her departure and emphasized that the choice was entirely her own. Meltzer stated, “I’ve talked to and heard from several people and the general thing was is just she didn’t want to do it anymore. There was no compelling reason.” He added further context by noting family considerations, saying, “It was just one of those things where her parents own a studio and they thought that she’s probably going to end up working there. She doesn’t have to do it.”
During the conversation, Meltzer also addressed speculation surrounding Ava’s partner, Tatyanna Dumas, who was recently released by WWE. While the timing led some to draw connections between the two situations, Meltzer clarified that there was no definitive confirmation that Dumas’ release influenced Ava’s decision. He explained, “One person had contacted me and mentioned Tatyanna Dumas, who is her girlfriend, was cut, which we didn’t hear just a couple of weeks ago. They weren’t quite saying that’s why she quit but it was something that people put one and one together that maybe that had something to do with it, maybe it didn’t, I don’t know.”
Alvarez pointed out that Ava’s departure was not addressed on television. He noted that Tuesday’s episode of NXT included no indication that she would be leaving, despite an ongoing storyline involving Ava and Tony D’Angelo that had been developing in recent weeks.
Meltzer reiterated that Ava’s exit was not tied to WWE planning to remove her from the role. He closed by stating, “It was her decision, it’s not like they were going to get rid of her or anything like that.” The comments reinforced that Ava’s departure was voluntary and unrelated to creative dissatisfaction or backstage issues.
